Wild forward Dany Heatley, who was flying to the Twin Cities on Sunday, July 1, for a checkup on his surgically repaired knee, said it feels "better than it has in four or five years," and is anticipating a better 2012-13 season after a chance to recover.
Heck, we should be celebrating if we can get a guy to score 30 on this team.
Completely agree. I didn't really become a hardcore Wild follower up until a couple years ago so I don't even know what 30 goals feels like. I've been a fan since around the lockout, but never anywhere as close as I have been the last couple years.
Assuming he can bounce back a bit and put up a couple 55-60 pt (or maybe even more) seasons, I'm all for bringing him back. If Coyle can take over the role of 1st line RW three years from now, I'd love to see Heater take Butch's place on the 2nd line with FBJ and Seto.
If Heatley isn't just blowing smoke about his knees, which theres no reason to presume he is since saying the knee feels better than it has in some years actually places expectations on yourself, we could see the player that found his way to SJ. 35-40 goals. Never underestimate what a positive attitude and outlook has on ones health. If he thinks the surgery went well, and it feels good, and has a MUCH improved team to play with with Parise and Suter on it, he might just bring all that energy in the form of scoring.
For for real, can we just PLEASE get Yeo to put him in position to get one timers or just big blasts. please.

If granlund gets heater to he's wing, then oh boy, they'e gonna score. Granlund is used to give amazing backdoor passes and onetimer chances to players who are worse or equal scorers with miettinen.

I'm so friggin' tired on seeing MiG putting an amazing saucer cross pass through the whole PK unit on a PP only so the shooter on the other side either misses the net or shoots it in the chest on the goalie. GRRR
Yep. One of the few "beats" by the PioPress. Russo reported the surgery, but he hasn't reported Heater giving that kind of multi-year rollback review of the results.
That may be one of the few upsides to missing the playoffs. Which Heater never did in SJ. He was obviously aware he had an issue, and likely part of the calculation in whether/when to address it was having enough recovery time to be ready for camp.
Being on the wrong side of 25 goals probably inspired him to get the surgery done a bit too. He doesn't wear it on his face quite as obviously as Gaborik (Gaby probably can't pleasure a woman if he hasn't scored a goal this week), but he's a sniper and he knows it clap your hands.
