Great news! Would like to see him make an impact at the nhl level next season but its definitely better for him to stay in Sarnia and rack up huge minutes. Bring on 2013-2014

It's better not to screw around with who could be the future face of the franchise.

Would like us to take a bit (not a lot) of time with him...
One more season at Sarnia (juniors).
And then...40 games or more in AHL.

He'll be 20 or 21 when he plays full-time in the NHL.
So, he'll only get that 1mil/year (NHL salary) in the 3rd year of this contract. And maybe he'll get some NHL salary in the 2nd year of this contract. For now it's junior money and then AHL salary
($50 000 to $100 000/year?).

Go Galchenyuk Go!! (can't wait but better to wait a bit for his development).

Alex Galchenyuk contract with the Canadiens. 3 year / $832 500 per season. SB $92 500 per season. 2 way.
Is it me or it is not...enough? Especially for a 3rd overall pick. Performance bonuses are not know I bet.

So he got the max for base salary with 925K. I imagine with the bonuses it's gonna be around 3,25M but I wouldn't be surprised to see him getting the max like Yakupov (3,775M).

3.25M is correct!

NHL salary - 925k - P.B. 2.3M - S.B. 92.5k

http://capgeek.com/players/display.php?id=2339

CAP HIT - 3.225M to be more precise

I think he has to play 2 more seasons in junior.

This kid has elite talent... don't make him rot in the junior too long...

I get the 1 year in juniors because of injury. After that it's just stupid.

Pretty sure he's almost physically ready. One more year of junior to dominate the league and we'll see him at the Bell Center. He's got such a special work ethic that, even if it's not my 1st choice, I wouldn't be surprised to see him cracking the lineup this fall.

This is actually pretty low in bonus for of top 3 picks.

EDIT: Nevermind, he got the usual 3+M total in bonuses.

Good, those number were not available when Lavoie published details

As I expected with performance bonuses, no it wasn't. Yet, people here believe credibility goes with the number of posts a user has.

He got the max 3rd overall salary and bonuses. Why don't you put the cap hit and 1st year signing bonus in the title?

Like I said, there's no disadvantage to giving him a shot in the majors for 9 games.

If he's impressive, I can see the forward lines looking something like this

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Galchenyuk - Plekanec - Bourque
Moen - Eller - Gionta
Prust - Nokelainen - Armstrong

I guess Gomez has to go somewhere though, and White will be up there as a spare...

IMO Galchenyuk/Nokelainen will be out, Gomez/White will be in. No need to rush the kid, his development level is that of someone who won't even be drafted for another year
