Well it looks like I'm staying up till midnight tomorrow. Unless of course the Preds don't match in which case its up all night!
Bold prediction:
Step 1- they don't match
Step 2- they keep next years 1st and trade for Jake, Mez, Gus, and Read.

I know that is one extra player then most of you think but I really feel if they can't get Couts or Schenn they will push for 2 forwards and 2 d. Their roster would be fairly set, and they would save face with the fans. Considering they got zippo for everyone else they have been losing to get 4 players and a pick is pretty decent.

Step 3- I party like its 1999

Can somebody explain to me why, other than just having respect for the Nashville franchise, we would trade anyone to Nashville? Isn't there really only two possible scenarios, NSH matching or not?

Weber can't be traded for a year if they match anyway, am I right? Sorry, I just must be missing something here.

You're right that they can only match or not, but a side deal could be cut where we would ask for some 1st round picks back.

If I'm NSH, I'd be more inclined to do a deal like that since they need to save face if they lose Weber. Not even trade with us necessarily, but to another team to re-stock their cabinets quickly.

Sources: The Flyers and Predators have NOT had any trade talks for Shea Weber since he signed his offer sheet last Wed.

There's the scenario where they can match but feel like it would be better for the on-ice product of their hockey club to let Weber go but that mere picks are unacceptable return. In that case they demand a trade where they return some of the picks to PHI for roster players, in a separate transaction.

All the people posting that Nashville would necessarily be bluffing if they demanded roster players are idiots.

if we're trading jake, i'd much rather him be the centerpiece of a Ryan deal rather than send him to a team with no leverage for a player we'd be getting anyway...

give nashville 3 of the firsts and trade them Meszaros and Matt Read for 1 of them.

Trade Voracek, Cousins, Gustafsson and that 1st to Anaheim for Ryan

Sign Doan.

FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.200m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Bobby Ryan ($5.100m) This line gives giroux a butt load of protection and space to hold onto the puck and let Ryan and Hartnell create openings
Shane Doan ($5.000m) / Brayden Schenn ($3.110m) / Danny Briere ($6.500m) This line would be a great forechecking line, and Doan and Schenn's 2-way game makes up for Briere's lack thereof
Ruslan Fedotenko ($1.750m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Wayne Simmonds ($1.750m) A great 3rd defensive line with good amount of offensive upside as well. could be a 2nd line on most teams
Zac Rinaldo ($0.544m) / Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Eric Wellwood ($0.580m) not the greatest 4th line, and kind of small unless you replace zac with sestito but this line has a lot of speed and agitation.
DEFENSEMEN
Shea Weber ($7.857m) / Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Kimmo Timonen ($6.333m) / Luke Schenn ($3.600m)
Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m) / Andreas Lilja ($0.738m)
Bruno Gervais ($0.825m) /
GOALTENDERS
Ilya Bryzgalov ($5.667m)
Stupid ($0.900m)
BUYOUTS
Oskars Bartulis ($0.100m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,428,944; BONUSES: $2,705,000

I've brought this up before, and I know it's a different time... but after the Gratton offer sheet, Renberg and Dykhuis got us all four picks in return. Proves to me, anyway, that Nashville has little leverage to demand top players, if much at all. Especially a 2 player for one pick return package.

Desperately trying to take any positives I can from stuff I see on Twitter.

There is talk heating up about the Preds and Flyers working on a deal that would send Shea Weber to Philly for a top 6 forward and a d-man.
This guy apparently works for Nashville TV. I know it's only speculation, but it could be a good sign

I posted this on the main board and wasn't sure its been touched on in here. I wonder how this is going to affect the new CBA discussions. Nashville is one of the franchises that would benefit from greater revenue sharing. The Flyers already give to into the small revenue sharing policies and would have to give more if it is expanded. If Nashville matches and then asks for greater revenue sharing, how is that going to fly with Snider. The Flyers would be essentially paying for Nashville to keep a player they wanted. Snider has a lot of clout with other owners. I doubt he would be willing to give more under that circumstance. Conversely, he might be more willing to increase revenue sharing if he gets the player he wants.

we're getting so greedy around here.

listen, i agree, i'd rather not send anyone

but if a top 6 forward not named giroux couturier or schenn and one of our defenseman are what's keeping us from the best defenseman in the league... id say we're in good shape

Well if Homer's best offer was Read and Mesz plus picks before the OS, i'm thinking Poile won't even get them post OS.
