10/10 on idea, but that's a six execution.

Been a lot of mutterings this week that those Broom-handle and Belly putters could be banned before next year.

And kudos to ESPN for thier early prediction of Scott melting down.
I don't think the analysts would have made a big deal of it on the broadcast, but then SportsCenter sensationalism and buffoons like Rick Reilly would tee off (no pun intended). They probably talked more about Stevie Williams 'helping Scott with the pressure' more yesterday than today

Pleased for Els though because he is all class.

Agreed, Ernie is one of the classiest athletes alive today. Look no further thenhis gracious words for Adam Scott and his thanking Nelson Mandela during his victory speech.

Van De Velde did it over the course of one hole, Scott did it over four.

yea, that last 4 with a 3 shots lead. Par one of the last 4 holes and you are in a playoff. Par 50% and you win. Its debatable I think

Van de Velde was the shock value because it completely came apart on one hole in a series of dumb decisions. That was something that happens almost never.

Scott hit a few bad shots which wasn't unlike the other leaders, aside from Els. That isn't something we see routine, but almost once a year by now.

Congrats to Ernie Els. Made a pretty boring major (IMO) decent. I love links courses but Royal Lytham and St. Annes is one of the more overrated/bland links courses, even with all the history and such. Hopefully the PGA championship will be better, especially since I'm going to it.

I'm heading down for it too. Will be tough for sure, lots of high fescue and water in play on most holes, plus the wind coming off the ocean. I played Kiawah about two years ago from the tips and shot an 86, can only imagine how tough they will make it for the PGA.

That's cool you're coming all the way down here from Ontario for the PGA Championship. I only live about an hour from Kiawah Island so it's an easy trip for me. This will be my first PGA event ever but I've played the Ocean course twice before. I shot over 90 both times. Definitely will be interesting to see how some of the players play this course for sure.

Great for Ernie, all class player, but then again I feel bad for Scott, he had the tournament wrapped up until the last 4 holes where he blew it and will go down as one of the biggest chokes of recent memory.

Was gonna say this. But earlier this year, Kyle Stanley made a triple bogey on the 72nd hole to fall into a playoff and lost. And last year Robert Garrigus did the exact same thing. Both happen more than you think, but Van de Velde was a lot more shocking.
