Carlo Colaiacovo | UFA

I don't see anything new here:

http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/tag/carlo-colaiacovo/

It says at one point (July 4) it was 50-50 that STL brought him back. I'm guessing demand exceeding supply on the open market, has made his contract demands less palatable to the Blues organization as time has gone on?

He is probably holding out for a 5 year deal. The wings need to shore up defence but Cola is probably not really a top pairing choice for most teams.

I can't possibly believe the Blues have even entertained the notion of bringing him back. He's terrible. I'll be happy watching him do his trademark dive and swat (instead of actually moving his feet) in another uniform.

I wouldn't mind if the Oilers threw him a 2 year deal. He'd fit nicely on our third pairing instead of Potter.

The odds of St. Louis bringing him back are much less than 50/50 right now. More like 2/98.

I would think the Islanders might give him a look depending on the outcome of the Ducks/Visnovsky arbitration.

How about we re-up Carlo for dirt cheap for 2 or so years (without a NTC). You guys can give us Visnovsky and we'll give you Carlo and a 4th, haha.

None of it is in the Islanders Hands. Visnovsky and NHLPA are taking arbitration against the ducks.

I know. I don't think Visnovsky or the NHLPA have a leg to stand on so I think you guys will be fine. Maybe if Vis is disgruntled, but my response was mainly just a bad joke, more than anything...

I was really hoping Minnesota picked up Colaiacovo. He's severely underrated.

He looked bad on the best defensive team in the NHL. Underrated is not the word I would use to describe him.

That said, he is a perfect 3rd pairing dman/PP specialist.

I hope he re-signs in STL just to see the ensuing ****-storm on the boards.

Bingo. The guy is an absolutely dreadful player, why there always seems to be interest in him is beyond me

If you mean he's underrated in the sense that he's a decent player in the right role, then yeah.

But he's completely over his head as a top pairing defenseman in the NHL. The Blues simply picked the best option out of Russell, Huskins (oft-injured as well), and Jackman. Cole, to date, hasn't gotten the seasoning he needed to play big minutes.

Decent bottom pairing guy who can help you a bit offensively. My biggest problem is that he isn't someone that you can count on to stay healthy for a full season. He must've led the Blues in leaving games early every year since he's been here.

I second that... the Colaiacovo hate among Blues' fans is like watching the know-it-alls on the wrestling board crap all over John Cena.
