"Detroit in four. This is a very powerful team. You can't just focus on one player. I can still remember how hard it is to play against them. They are a well-oiled machine. I'm pretty sure that Edmonton is doomed."
After watching last night's game, if it's going to be a sweep, it'll be one of the closest sweeps in NHL history. Edmonton played more than well enough to win Game 1...the Wings flipped the switch in the closing minutes and were great in the OTs.

Detroit won without their most explosive player and their best foward and best goal scorer having well-below average games. That doesnt bode well for the Oilers.
Datsyuk's presence would've helped open up the game for the Wings. The Oilers were able to take away passing lanes and open ice. Hopefully with him back in the lineup, he can create some more quality opportunities. I'll give the Wings credit, they scored three playoff-type goals. They didn't have to score a pretty goal to win...just put it on net and see what happens. Maltby was the saint of circumstance last night with the puck hitting his stick just right as he got that rebound goal and that winning goal tipped off the blade of Murray.

I have said it before and I will say it again, we don't know what a treasure we have in Pasha until we don't have him available.

They were definitely missing him for sure. They've got guys who can grind and get open for shots but he's one of the few who can create their own shot with the puck as well as dish is off. Lang was very good last night as was Zetterberg but I think getting Datsyuk back will make Shanahan a better player. If he's back tomorrow afternoon, I'd expect to see an offensive explosion out of the red and white.
