Was just going to post the same thing.

There's 4 components that make up a #1 line.

LW - C - RW and chemistry.

Straka - Nylander - Jagr had chemistry

Nash-Richards-Gaborik will be our first line next year just like Dubi-Richards-Gaborik was our first line this year

To open the season I would put Kreider with Richards and Nash and Hagelin with Stepan and Callahan.

Eventually I would like to see if Kreider and Stepan can get something working and have Nash play the RW there

If we could sign Doan this team would be scary good.

Doan - Richards - Gaborik
Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Hagelin - Miller - Callahan
Pyatt - Boyle - Rupp

It has to be looked at at the very least.

That has monster potential. To not try it would be doing a major dis-service.

Nylander Straka and Jagr and the FLY line were legit 1st lines this past decade.

that's just 3 teams where they actually played those players together at times in past seasons. there are many other teams that could field all-star first lines but have them spread. Philly, Detroit, LA, Vancouver, San Jose and even Carolina could are capable of creating "all-star" first lines.
There are many teams who could field a line of all stars, but none do. In fact only one of the line you mentioned - Anaheim consistently play together. The other teams all have them broken up

it's an overload though, and the next 2 lines look quite a bit easier to match up against if you do that.

Nash - Richards - Gaborik
Kreider - Stepan - Callahan
Hagelin - Boyle - Doan/Pyatt

something like that? The 2nd line, while good, has a lot of question marks on it.

The Rangers, if they sign Doan, have a very real chance of putting together 3 #1 lines. Just like the Kings did to win a cup.

I have a tough time considering Hagelin - Boyle - Doan a #1 line

Are you predicting a lockout or Gabs quick return ?

Perhaps you believe that Gabs will have a blockbuster season with Nash around to feed him the puck?

I really want to see Kreider with Richards(his veteran presence and vision and play making is going to work for Kreider.) That combo will be lethal.

What side will Nash be playing this year? He's listed as right-wing on a lot of sites.

If left wing:

Nash - Richards - Callahan
Kreider - Stepan - Gaborik
Hagelin - Boyle - Pyatt
Rupp - Halpern - Asham

If right wing:

Hagelin - Richards - Nash
Kreider - Stepan - Gaborik
Pyatt - Boyle - Callahan
Rupp - Halpern - Asham

Any rookies expected to make it this year? Is Miller ready? I'd prefer if Boyle or Pyatt were playing on the 4th line and one of Asham/Rupp was in the press box. We're in trouble if they both play 75+ games. I suspect another signing is on the way.

Do we already not remember last year? Torts will be switching lines constantly.

For the sake of argument though (if Gabs was healthy in October)

Kreider - Richards - Gaborik
Nash - Stepan - Callahan
Hagelin - Boyle - Pyatt
Rupp - Halpern - Asham/Haley

There's a good looking spot at 3rd line center/right wing for a rookie to surprise and make the team.

Down late in the third period? Load up the top line with Nash - Richards - Gaborik. Utilize in the same sense that Bylsma uses Malkin and Crosby.

And yes, Straka - Nylander - Jagr was amazing to watch. Great times from 05-07

theres nothing that says nash-richards-gaborik (if they are even a line, well im sure they will be in some situations) will be better than straka-nylander-jagr was, in fact im willing to bet they wont be

Torts has to play the 3 stars together. The 22 million dollar line. Nash, Richards, Gaborik

Well obviously the comparison will only be between games in which they both play.

I do think Nash's acquisition will help Gabby, though. Nash's big body will draw defenders if they're playing together, and if they're on separate lines it'll be harder for opposing coaches to match defense pairings and checkers.

Rucinsky-Lindros-Bure was sensational for the last month of the 2001-02 season, if that counts too.
