Hopefully Homer realizes that Weber and Ryan aren't the same player ... missing out on one of the best D-men in the league does not mean we need to trade for someone like Bobby Ryan

What other defensemen are left out there if we were still interested?

He ****ed himself over by signing the contract and allowing for the possibility. Nashville merely exercised its rights.

Oh well. Keeps him from going anywhere else. Bummer that the Flyers didn't get him, but a good effort.

Curious to see what transpires now. Perhaps Flyers make a move for Yandle? Any other d-men out there that might be of interest?

Are people going to be up in arms for Nashville doing what is legal under the rules for matching? Since clearly Philly were jerks for offering.

Just wish them congratulations on all of their big FA signings.

As for us, I'm content to stand put. I think Holmgren has all but locked away Couturier and Schenn, so I don't think anyone has to worry about him moving them. If he didn't do it for Weber, I can't see him doing it for anyone else.

Let's see what we have here.

He could have waited a year and been a UFA but chose to go for the big bucks instead. He has to be comfortable with his choice.

Good try by Holmgren - was worth the effort. I'm anxious to hear Weber's quotes after this.

Dumb trade for a winger we don't need in 3....2....1...

Oh well. That means we can really go after other venues. Semin, Doan, Voracek being re-signed, etc.

The only thing I'm excited about is having Voracek resigned. I don't want Semin, and we'll overpay Doan if we get him.

This is the last chance he would of had at getting a lifetime contract. The CBA is very likely to rule these out

Disappointing result but I applaud the effort. This was much better than waiting a week next year as Weber mulls over offers from a dozen teams as a free agent.

Oh well.....it was fun at the Casino while it lasted. Good luck to Nashville tying up their franchise in two players..albeit elite talent. Wonder about the details and how they secured the funds..should be interesting.

When the details come out, it will be interesting to see where NSH got the money.
