Is Subban going to be approached by other teams?

With Weber being matched by Preds, will Philly make a pitch to Subban? I think its a good possibility.

a) Even if they do, doesn't mean he will sign
b) Montreal isn't Nashville, we're a more powerful/wealthier franchise than Philly. Philly can try, but they wont succeed and may just piss Molson and Bergevin off.

Go ahead, Mtl is a rich team, can match anything.

Isn't he exempt because he just came off an ELC?

They might, but Subban hasn't expressed much interest in playing elsewhere. Very different situation to Weber.

Nope, only if you decide to go to arbitration you are exempt from offersheets, ex Price this summer.

It's not really about that, if someone offers him a big offer sheet he'll sign it cause that'll force montreal to pay him big money. It's a money thing not really about wanting to play for another team.

I highly doubt this will happen, and Montreal would more likely than not be willing to meet his demands, unless he wants something ridiculous(which i again doubt)

No..that let the Habs keep his rights as a (RFA), if the Habs didn't send the QO, Subban would have been an UFA on July 1st.

I don't see the point of this, Philly would simply be wasting their time trying to offersheet Subban.

For some reason I've always thought that a team only can send one offer-sheet per season. Am I wrong/right?

Problems go further. Could create tension within the locker room, especially with Subban not being unanime with his teammate.

Imagine he signs a Boston Bruins offersheet.

The chaos.

At 7.8, I would think letting him go for 4 1st rounds.

If Philly offer Subban 5.5M/per season.

We'd match but Subban would cost 1-1.5M more thant we'd have signed him.

Ok,

I doubt Don Meehan would allow Subban to sign an offersheet, because he knows Mtl is going to match it.

Now you can say that another team might be offering more money that the Habs aren't offering, but GM usually try to hammer out a trade before making an offersheet. So the Habs would get an idea of how interested another team is, and just up their offer to Subban to match what the offersheet might be just to say face and time.

We're talking about NHL professionals here, it's not a school yard pickup game...
And he'd instantly be their #1 defenseman. As for Boston I remember him being the best player in the last playoffs series against them.

I had to exact same thought a few minutes ago, after learning that Nashville has matched the Flyers offer. That's kinda scary... I'm sure that Bergevin would match any offer, but it could take a blow on the team's long term cap space...

If they take a run at Subban, they'd have to know we'd TAKE Giroux from them.

Who's to say that he wasn't approached already? But I don't see him getting an offer sheet because:

a) Habs would match any reasonable offer

b) it would take a truly idiotic offer to pry him out of Montréal

I don't worry much about Subban being lured away. The Habs would probably match unless the offer was so ridiculously high that they would accept the return of a slew of first rounders. As a corollary to that, the Habs, minus Subban would probably finish out of the playoffs in 2013 and use their own high pick to select among a number of attractive candidates in a deep draft. Either way, the Habs would have a bright future because of their multiple picks in 2013.
