So it's 15 on the roster but only 12 dressed. Thanks - I wasn't sure exactly what the numbers were. Since Boston couild use another big body I think you're right and that Wilcox ( or maybe Milicic if he gets signed ) gets the final spot. I really like how this team looks on paper.

Milicic would be nice. I think a pf is all that's left.

We need a center since Steemah is good as gone. Which sucks because I think he was being groomed by KG so well that this year could be a big one.

So what's the reaction to the Courtney Lee deal from Celtics fans?

Are people happy to have him on board? Is he considered a good player?

Love it. Very good complimentary piece. With terry, rondo, and bradley already in the fold, this back court should be top notch.

So to finalize the Courtney Lee deal - Boston is sending JaJuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore, Sean Williams, Sasha Pavlovic and Charlotte's 2nd round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft ( which Boston got as compensation for Jeff Green's health issues) to Houson. I still like the trade even though we now only have New Jersey's 2014 2nd round pick ( part of the Marshon Brooks for JaJuan Johnson draft day deal ) left to show from the 2011 draft.

The nice thing is that Lee is only 26, so unless one of those guys was going to be capable of surpassing Lee's talent, it's a win, especially in the win now mode that the Celtics are in right now.

I'm wondering what they do next. Seems like they need a PF and they will have their team pretty set.

This move also opens a spot for Christmas to come to camp and possibly earn a spot on the 15 man roster.

This has turned out to be one of the most convoluted trades I can ever remember. Unless it changes again this is what it currently looks like:

Boston - receives Courtney Lee from Houston
Houston - receives JaJuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore, Sean Williams and Charlottes 2nd round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft plus Jon Diebler from Portland
Portland - receives Sasha Pavlovic from Boston

I'm pretty happy with this deal. All we did is deal depth guys to strengthen our back court, which is now rock solid. Moore and Johnson were both 3rd on the depth chart, it's nice to see something of value come back for them. Ainge has handled this offseason to the best of his ability with the pieces available, can't say anything bad about the moves so far.

Courtney Lee is a really nice complimentary piece to JET. Pretty similar skillsets.

Ainge did well to get Lee and Terry and draft 2 top 10 talent bigs in Sully and Melo.

I didn't want Wilcox or Bass going anywhere either.

Gonna be nice to mix in Avery middle the season and get shutdown D and energy.

Charlotte's pick would have been close to ours though its probably the biggest peice we gave up.

He has talent, but he's an end of the rotation guy/DNP here. Good trade.

The Celtics signed center Jason Collins to a 1 year, veteran minimum deal.

Pretty decent depth signing for a C. Gotta give Danny Ainge a ton of credit, he's done a great job reloading this offseason.

Like Collins a lot. Will bring nothing offensively, but he is a much better defender than Stiemsma (not late in rotations). Less of a shot blocker though, but that is fine considering we brought in Melo and we are having Wilcox back.

Looks like we are ready for another run, it's important not to lose too much defenseively when Garnett & Pierce sit ( Garnett more so than Pierce of course )

I agree, Ainge has done a good job..

Rounded out the roster with PG Jamar Smith (of Illinois and Southern Indiana) and G Dionte Christmas (of Temple- great college player too)

Both have been quite impressive from what I have seen of them (Smith in the D-League, Christmas in college, and then both of them this summer in the odd summer league game I'd catch)

Smith can shoot and distribute reasonably well. That is all I got on him.

Christmas can penetrate, shoot, and play reasonable defense. I actually think that he will turn into a good player too. A solid 7th man type. He understands he has to play lockdown defense to get some playing time in the league, and you can tell he has committed to it. He was getting some pretty good sized offers from Europe as well. I've seen enough of him to believe he is an NBA quality player

And now Christmas is on board. That's 15 guys.

C: Garnett, Wilcox, Collins, Melo
PF: Bass, Sullinger
SF: Pierce, Green, Joseph
SG: Bradley, Lee, Smith, Christmas
PG: Rondo, Terry

A handful of those guys will also play other positions.

Great leader and locker room guy from all accounts. Also made some nice shots in the playoffs against the Heat.
