Don't see how Montrael wouldn't match 6/$33.

Florida and Kulikov is your best bet. I doubt we see another though.

33m/5 = 6.6m

$1,110,249 or below - No Compensation

Over $1,110,249 to $1,682,194 - 3rd round pick

Over $1,682,194 to $3,364,391 - 2nd round pick

Over $3,364,391 to $5,046,585 - 1st round pick, 3rd

Over $5,046,585 to $6,728,781 - 1st round pick, 2nd, 3rd

Over $6,728,781 To $8,410,976 - Two 1st Round Picks, 2nd, 3rd

Over $8,410,976 - Four 1st Round Picks

That would give them a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd

I think they match

Kulikov, Subban, and Carlson are the only players worthy of being offer-sheeted, and I think the other teams would all match anything we would reasonably offer.

None of them are worth 4 1sts and IIRC we lack the compensation for any other offer sheet.

Where do you possibly go after losing the greatest defenseman in the game?

How did the Flyers lose a player they never had?

LOL @ "lost Weber". Never had him, COULD have gained him. That's like the people who say we "lost Suter and Parise".

I still like the team. It's definitely a top-tier defensemen away from being a step ahead of New York, Pittsburgh, etc. but they're still stacked with quality players. I'd like to see us grab a high-end defensemen before the playoffs though (Enstrom, Bouwmeester, Streit, etc.). Since everybody wants Schenn and Couturier when looking for high-end trades (ie. Bobby Ryan) we might just want to stick to our guns and roll with what we have for now.

Right now, power shift in East looks like this IMO:

NYR
---
Pittsburgh
Philadelphia
Boston
---
then everyone else. I will not be surprised if New York is the new 'regular season powerhouse' like the Canucks, Sharks and Capitals were the past few seasons. Those 3 teams never won a cup, either.

We are set now and have a bright future ahead. Lots of options moving forward and lots of guys will become available like Enstrom(!) over the next season.

I hope they do nothing. Wait until Enstrom is about to become a free agent and work out a lesser deal with WPG.

The Flyers are okay for the regular season.

Pittsburgh got significantly worse. How did you have them better than us?

Get Beauchemin. Dude is a freakin stud that can play literally 30 min a game. In a one year scenario there are few dmen id take over him.

Not to mention we just destroyed them in the playoffs and they lost their best defensive dman and best defensive forward. Before losing that they were giving up 8+ goals a game against us.

Orpik?

Pens are still dangerous. It'd be foolish to rule them out of anything. And there are still some solid FAs available.

Flyers' new plan:
1) Sign Doan
2) Convert him into a defenseman
3) Win Cup

Seriously, I'm with phillyflyerfan1992; this is a strong roster. Of course Weber would have improved the defense immensely; however, it wasn't in the cards. Rolling with Grossmann / Coburn Timonen / Schenn Meszaros / best of the rookies or Gervais is far from all gloom and doom. I foresee a more defensively responsible game plan, particularly with the addition of Fedotenko.

Back to the off-season's main priority: ensuring Ilya Bryzgalov does not get sick/injured for a single game in 2012-13.

Meszaros is going to be the key to the defense IMO. If he is heathy and returns to the form of 10/11 then everything else should fall into place. Maybe its not an elite top end group but if everyone is healthy they should be a good group.
Of course you are only has good as your goaltending. If Bryzgalov plays the way he is capable of and Leighton doesnt suck when he is asked to play they should be battling for 4-6 in the East IMO.
I still think Holmgren isnt done. There are still plenty of options out there to make this team better.

I'd add Schenn to this as well. Mez and Schenn will be crucial this year.

It's been said before, I'll reiterate it; here's hoping that the change of scenery will do Luke good. Maybe some added mojo of playing on the same team as his brother (and the impossibility of his brother undressing him on the ice) factors in, too.

Wasn't in order. Had New York at the top, with Pitts/Philly/Boston in the tier below... then everyone else.
