Ya, Kane and Winnipeg are supposedly close to a deal. Can't hurt to ask though. Kane is going to be a good one.

Sign Semin
Sign Doan
Sign Kostitsyn
Disregard salary Cap

I'd sign Doan but that's about it.

I'm surprised that Patrick Kane's name hasn't been mentioned. He could use a change of scenery. I know he is immature, but we do have "dry island" Lavy haha.

I feel like that if Homer does make a trade that it won't be for a player who is on anyone's radar.

I'm being realistic. PHX wouldn't accept that at all. But still, probably not. I'm excited to see the Schenn brothers together for atleast a year.

I'd push HARD for Yandle. He's my second choice behind Weber if I wanted a D-Man to come to Philly

So the price for Yandle is higher than Weber?? I say offer the same thing for Yandle that we did for Weber before the offer sheet... what was it.. Read/Mez/MAB/1st?

Any interest in Dan Boyle? Not looking to unload him, but he could be had if the price is right.

What would be the price?

Considering he is 36 now, I doubt Holmgren would give up huge assets for him

I'm not so sure I am hating this D. this needs to be coburns year. Lets see what happens with the schenn brothers who were both highly rated prospects.

I wouldn't. I think people are jumping to conclusions too soon with regards to the defense. I know the popular thing is to go off about Laviolette's system and how terrible the system is, but when they went on the 2010 run to the finals, they played exceptional defense. I think we need to give things a chance first rather than blow things up in a panic. Making a move for Yandle would be a panic. Right now, the Flyers are sitting pretty with a lot of money available. Wait until it's closer to the deadline and then make the move.

Realistically, we aren't getting Doan or Ryan. We aren't a good partner for ANA since they want a center and we aren't trading Schenn or Coots.

Couple of things that I would like to see:
[LIST][*]Sign Semin to give Giroux a sniper on his line. If not Semin then sign Sykora.

OR
  • Trade Mezsaros for C. Stewart. The Flyers could sign someone like S. Hannan to replace Mez or just let the youngs guys play and add a Dman at the deadline
.
  • Sign Arnott or Moore to center the 4th line
[*]Sit on the cap space until the trade deadline and add a significant piece then.

Hartnell - Giroux - Semin
Schenn - Briere - Simmonds
Read - Coots - Voracek
Talbot - Arnott/Moore - Rusty

OR

Hartnell - Giroux - Briere
Stewart - Schenn - Voracek
Read - Coots - Simmonds
Talbot - Arnott/Moore - Rusty

Kimo - Schenn
Grossman - Coburn
Hannan - Gervais/Bourdon

If Evander Kane signs extension with Winnipeg, Tobias Entrom or Ron Hainsey could be trade candidates for the #Flyers.

Don't want any trades unless its picks and prospects. Offer Sheet pk and sign Semin and Voracek. I really want Semin to be honest and I have since the offseason started.

If Couturier and the Schenns were off the table on any Weber deals then they're off the table for anyone. If Holmgren moves Brayden for Yandle we're all going to wonder why he didn't move him for Weber. From now on when anyone proposes a deal be sure not to include Couturier or the Schenns cause it will not happen.

There would be a lot of "hoping" with this defense. Timonen is notably getting slower. Coburn always does well in playoffs and everybody in the offseason says "its Coburns time for a beast season". Ill believe it when it happens. Grossmann is a solid top 4 guy who looked good before he was hurt. There are reasons he had problems in Dallas though. Meszaros was hurt all last year but he was good the year before. He is also just a #3-4 defender. Schenn had one good season out of 4. There is little evidence he will turn it around THIS season, but there is a chance. Gervias has always been a #6, while we have MAB who still is having concussion problems and Gus (who I like) but is still unknown (and Manning).

Thats what this defense is. All chance. Sadly Weber would have solidified the defense. Now that he isnt a Flyer, I do hope they take a look at #1 defenders out there such as Enstrom.People looked at our defense last season and said how bad it was. Now we have closely to the same exact defense that we were complaining with near the allstar break.
