If Calgary did indeed offer sheet Benn, then I apologize to Dallas fans. Not saying we would get him or anything, just that I really don't like offersheeting. I just don't think its a fair way to build a team, poaching players.

Just my opinion, I am sure lots of people will disagree.

Vancouver - Not enough capspace.
Calgary - Not enough capspace.
Winnipeg - Chevy doesn't seem like a guy who would toss out an OS.
Toronto - Doubt Burke does it, with his views on OS's.
Montreal - Can't see them doing it either, Galchenyuk is their future #1 and will likely be pretty similar to Benn.
Ottawa - Already too deep at center, and I just can't see it.

He'll be a Star next season and for many more after.
Maybe for Crosby. Not for Benn.

Calgary has no cap space to offersheet. Bob Stauffer is just not a reliable individual.

Calgary doesn't have a 2nd round pick anymore. Unless Dallas can't match a 1 mil. offer sheet, Calgary has no chance at Benn. The same can be said for Ottawa.

No, no he's not. Thankfully Joe is more pragmatic than any of the genius Stars fans on this site. He's not even going to attempt to sign Benn until after the CBA is done and retarded long term contracts have been done away with. So if somebody swoops in and offers him a deal that would send four first-rounders back to Dallas, I'll take those picks all the way to the bank.

Personally, I can't wait until Benn either signs an offer sheet or holds out and the fans turn on him.

They only need 4 1st's to offer him a stupid deal.

I can see Feaster doing it, its just crazy enough.

I wasn't trying to say they did or that it was likely, just that I don't like offer-sheets.

What we know about offersheets: Which ones will be matched and which will be accepted:

Any offer on Jamie Benn: Matched
Any offer on Evander Kane: Matched
A 6yr, 40mil offer for Jakub Voracek: Accepted
A 3yr, 9mil offer for Tom Sestito: Accepted

The last 3 to be accepted were Penner, Corson, and Gratton. All three were massively overpaid and all three never went on to do anything with their new teams.

Offersheets are signed as a way for players to get their existing teams to buck up. That's it. Cheers.

I'd throw a long-term 6.5-7 mil per offersheet at Benn from a MTL point of view. It's a lot of money and the compensation is 4 1st round picks from a team that just finished 3rd last in the league.

At least gives them something to think about.

Here comes Benn's #1 fan

I agree to a certain extent. No way Joe matches a 15 year/150 mil. offer sheet. Not only is that the most unrealistic offer EVER. It would be regarded as the largest/longest contract in NHL history. I love Jamie Benn, but NO WAY in hell is he worth that. He hasn't won/done anything, yet.

Isn't Benn a left winger?

I'd love him in Ottawa, not sure at what price though.

Even then, Calgary doesn't have the cap space that they can afford to hand out an offer sheet that warrants 4 1st rounders. Jay Feaster must realize this by now.

But yeah, it is a crazy thought and if Feaster did try it, it would be pretty entertaining to see it unfold.

1 more 1st overall pick for the oilers with no success, and they should just send them to oklahoma city and bring up the barons squad

Yes he is, he said this was only a 'wild rumour' everything else is just speculation. He never 'reported' this, it was something brought up during his radio show, which ha a call in aspect.

No one thinks there's any legs to this, the lineups are pure "what-if"

What Dallas fans should take from this is how highly fans across the league view him. No one is buying a jersey or anything, we all think it's moon beams, but any of us would take him on our team in a heartbeat, even though we don't see it happening.

The problem with this and other proposals about bottom 10 teams in 2011-2 OSing Benn is that those teams plus Benn are significantly improved, in addition to the other moves those teams have made. With the exception of Coloumbus, adding a player who can be either a #1C or an elite #2C significantly improves a team to the point that their 1st round picks are no longer expected to be in the lottery. Benn makes a team better, which makes 4 of their 1st round picks less valuable.

I don't think you need to apologize unless you are actually involved in the Flames front office.

I'd give him 6,5-7M$ per for 5-7 years. I think he is that good.

Including the picks in compensation or from Dallas' perspective?

Why would Jamie Benn sign an offer sheet to go to either team is the first question. I doubt Dallas isn't gong to pay him.

I wish Tambo would have the balls to do something like that. A 1-2 punch of RNH/Benn would be incredible and it is exactly what our top 6 needs.

Hall-RNH-Yakupov
Hemsky-Benn-Eberle

If we could nab Yandle from Phoenix by trading someone like Gagner + Paajarvi + Prospect. It would make us a really good team. Atleast on paper.

This is just about as unrealistic as it gets. Keep it up!

That's partially my point. There's no realistic offer we wouldn't match.
