Offer sheets are so rare because if you give one out it opens you up to other GM's poaching your free agents...which would make offer sheets not rare. Wait...

Any interest in Dan Boyle?

Boyle is the kind of player you add at the deadline if there is a need--but he's a decade older than most of our core. I'd rather save the assets it would take to get him and target a younger alternative.

It definitely makes the Flyers fair game. Voracek offer sheet in 3, 2, 1...

I don't see that as a huge threat. Sure, there's potential for the Flyers to have to overpay by 1 million or so--but anything higher than that (above what Voracek seems to "deserve") and the Flyers happily take the compensation--he's not worth a $5 million contract yet.

I'll take Nashville's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Seth Jones would look good in orange and black

If it's an offer the Flyers don't want to match it's more draft picks for us, so that's cool.

Also, that likely won't happen because it just doesn't happen. Go find instances of GMs working themselves into a righteous rage over somebody using an offersheet (you know...that thing everyone agreed should exist in the CBA) and seeking to teach a lesson with revenge offersheets?

Edit: "HA! I sure showed Holmgren by overpaying for a player and then giving Philly my draft picks!"

You guys don't have the picks to offersheet anything below 4 1st

If you are willing to do that for voracek, go ahead

i like how everyone is acting like were retarded now. like we didn't still kick ass before the move which there was nothing to lose on. He would've been perfect here. we could afford him. nashville can't. they are kidding themselves and their no where near as close to a cup as we are. we will make moves. homers too insistent not too. jagr was a thank you bye bye move. we got what we could from him. defensively were good. everyone NEEDS weber but come on. we will get either ryan or doan. homer's too insane not too. couts and schenn are hopefully bulking up a little. lukes bulking down and were ready to rock. the real loser in all these moves is bob. poor bob. columbus is an identity less lump of a team.

Tough break guys. Real bummer for you. I guess this means Doan?
Why would Doan sign in Philly now? He can sign with arguably the best in the east. they have the cap room for him.

Yup, I expect the cash poor franchises to start robbing the rich teams of their stars via offer sheet any day now.

This little move is going to come back to bite the Flyers big time in the new CBA and its negotiations.
27 mil for a year which may be locked out? Flyers lose? They don't get Nash, that is all that happened.

Do people understand how hockey works? This isn't NHL 12. You don't just get a guy because you submitted an offer sheet... That player would have to agree to one first, then the onus would be on the Flyers to match. Yeesh.

Yeah, but after that putrid move by Holmgren, even players on the Flyers want to get him back. They feel really bad for Nashville for almost losing Weber, as does the rest of the league.

That's got to be one of the silliest things I've read. Are you the CFO of the team? They are owned by a bunch of multimillionaires who have demonstrated over the last 5 years that they have no problem putting their own money into the team.

Just as Uncle Ed has his own money, and Comcast behind him, these owners in Nashville easily have the funds for the Weber contract.

I would like to see us sign Voracek and then save our cap space for a defenseman at the deadline, maybe Enstrom if the Jets aren't in the playoff hunt.

We don't need to trade assets for a Bobby Ryan type. All it would be would be trying to add a more well-known name because we didn't get Weber. Unnecessary.

Yes, I'm sure players on the *Flyers* feel bad for their own management trying to bring in the best defenseman in the league to make the team they're ON better.

I'm sure they're outright furious about it.

I dont know where your hearing this but it makes no sense. Why would anyone on the Flyers care at all?

I talked to Luke Schenn the other day, he told me he wants traded back to Toronto ASAP!

If that is true one thing to consider is that cash is allowed to be part of NHL trades. Anyone acquiring Weber after July 24, 2013 won't get away with only paying the $1 mil salary for the 13-14 season. Nashville will ask for, and receive all or most of the $12 mil sb for that league year.
