when i say trade one of the d for a top-6 forward, i really mean trade one of the d with one of our d-prospects and a pick for a top 6 forward. a good third liner would be nice, but i'd rather get two more top six players (semin/doan and someone from a trade), and push zubrus and clarkson to the third line. obviously that's a lala land scenario, but imagine something like this.
that third line would be an ideal situation. i just fear going into the season expecting tedenby to be an adequate hockey player. sure it could work out, but i'd be weary of it.
Would still be ideal to bring someone in even with Tedenby. He can only play in 1 of the open spots, not bringing in anyone else means one of Barch and Cam play every game. That makes the awesome 4th line we found useless because it splits them up with either Carter or Bernier going up to the 3rd line.
Added to that, now Tedenby is handed a top 6 position if that is the case.
I can get behind that its a better line-up all around then the start of last year however its still missing important pieces and thats mainly a solid 3rd line player.
We could make due with Zubrus and Clarkson as our top RW's Id like to add a top 6 player and scorer but i am starting to believe the 3rd liner might be more important so that we can keep depth.

Yes i know, i just find it amazing that we really didnt get to see it, that is all.

This is what I'm saying! That's why I hated the Barch signing. That's also what made me grow to hate Boulton. I didn't hate Boulton that much until March, and then when we got that 4th line I figured no way he is in the lineup nightly next year. Then he was bought out after all our 4th line guys were re signed, and I was happy. Then Barch is signed a week later. The coach knows that CBGB line works though. Just like when Pete juggles the lines when the scoring isn't there. I wouldn't even doubt he would put them together if we can't get anything going.
Cam is on a two way though. It might be time to use that two way, because we didn't last year. That's why I was surprised Boulton was waived in February. He never had to play in the minors, but Cam could have been sent straight down, and not have to be paid $500k+ grand to play in the minors like Boulton. I think it was depth reasons. With Josefson, and Zajac not playing in the same game until last two weeks of the season I could see why we had both Cam and Boults last year.
Hey I don't care what anyone says. WORST case scenario that's not a bad lineup. If we can't do better than re sign Sykora. I'm undecided on if he can reach 20+ goals again, but if he doesn't big deal. Him taking up a roster spot with the salary he'll make is not gonna be a problem. As long as he produces at a higher rate than in the playoffs we're good. Many people's perception of Sykora I think was darkened by his poor playoff performance. If we were out in the first round more people I think would be behind re signing him. In fact a lot of posters wanted him re signed for this year before the playoff started, and said he earned another contract. Some of the same posters wanted him gone about a month later.
Close to it. Off the top of my head the only games without at least one of them were when Zajac came back. Zajac came back in the 7th to last game of the season I'm pretty sure it was cause we won 6 in a row after losing his first game back against Pittsburgh. Janssen played against the Isles in the last week cause Clarkson sat out. Josefson broke his wrist that game, and Boulton was started in Detroit the next game. Last game of the season against Ottawa Janssen played because Clarkson again sat out. Before Zajac, and Josefson were both back in the lineup at the same time one or the other of Cam, and Boulton played in all those games I'm pretty sure.
Well Boulton played in 51 and Cam in 48 some were together, no idea how many of them missed.
I loved what we got out of Sykora but i dont believe lighting will strike twice. I also kind of believe Lou thinks the same thing. Honestly unless Sykora is pricing himself off the team because of his surprise year there would be no reason not to sign him.
I am beginning to wonder if the fact of the matter is Lou doesnt really wanna bring him back unless he cant do anything else.
Even if he had signed for 735,000 and we ending up bring someone else in he could still be a scratch or fill in from time to time. Also would give Tedenby a push knowing that a vet could replace him on a line at any point. Right now Teddy is on the team and not going anywhere unless people are brought in.
Also i hope you are right about Josefson replacing Poni. What i would give to get a nice 75 to 82 game season out of Josefson. Hope he is drinking lots of milk.

He's a decent sniper and on a line with Elias he was effective enough. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a 20/20/40 player again this year...though we need to definitely rest him a bit more.

Not to forget he did make Elias a better player as well. I'm not so sure Patty plays as well as he did without Sykora back.

Agreed. Elias seems to be a player that really needs chemistry with his line mates. He is not really a kind of player you can put on a power line half way through the game and expect results.
I saw somebody comment on tg's post:
Bobby Ryan for tallinder Tedenby and a 1st. Then he posted line combos with Ryan. It gave me a good laugh. Gonna take a lot more than that

Hey look what CBJ got for Nash ... never know maybe add Urbom or another D prospect and your golden.
Amazing what players really go for vs what we all post on a message board. Guess thats why we are all here and they are doing those jobs.
Lou should sign his 2nd rounder from Y2K already, Teemu Laine. He's always had speed, but he seems to have some scoring touch now. Besides, we have no Finns!

After seeing what Columbus got for Nash, I'm never going to make a trade proposal again.
It could be the Flyers are just looking for the biggest impact player they could find but I don't know why after striking out on Weber that they would target Ryan.
I have no problem with Holmgren doing that. Offence isn't their problem.

I would love to bring him in, Tallinder and a middle round pick might be enough.
