Aren't you the guy who insisted losing Colton Orr would be the downfall of this organization? I fail to see how recognizing the fact that Stu, while being an awesome teammate and seemingly a cool guy, is at best a 7th defenseman is "hating on the kid."

Stu is a good 7th D man. Maybe, by some miraculous moment, he could become a regular as a 6th D man, but it certainly won't be with this team.

That guy is just a sycophant to any player that drops the gloves regularly, it's pathetic.

Bickel has a lot of work to do to be a player that can play the 10-12 minutes a game and not hurt the team. The Rangers desperately need a 5-6 pairing as they are completely wearing out 1-4.

During the regular season, sure. However I don't want him dressed up in the playoffs.

He had his moments.

By the way he's a head coach of a team in the BCHL--the same league that Steven Fogarty played in last year.

I think they're very similar. Strudwick became a Ranger after many years in the NHL, and so he had a little more savvy in his game to make the most of his limited role. Bickel is still learning.

I'd take Struds over Bickel as a fighter, though. I think Strudwick was better at tying up his opponent and sneaking in a timely blow. I love Bickel's courage, but he swings wildly & leaves himself open. It looks good, but it's not very efficient. If it was 5 years ago & the league was full of heavyweights, I'm sure he'd get hurt.

I'm sorry, but to me, a 6th defenseman should instill enough confidence in his coach to be able to play more than 5 minutes in a game that went to triple OT.

We need an upgrade there. Don't mind him as a 7th, but nothing more than that.

I certainly havent. When healthy he was my favorite Ranger.Complete game.If he can stay healthy,i still say hes a first pairing d man.His game is complete everywhere and he is tough and will fight.

as for Bickel,i like him.I have no problem with him being 3rd pairing year round and playing 8-10 mins a game.

i think it's fair to say he can be a reliable 6th dman that brings an edge that we sorely lack on the back end. He's the stop gap until McIlrath is NHL ready then Stu goes back to being #7. But a back end of McTruck-Girardi, Staal-Stralman, MDZ-Bickel, while not off the charts great it is still a top 10 d corps in the league.

Sauer was a huge loss last year. They have him and they make it to the Finals.

I'm holding out hope that Sauer can return ala Staal, but he was such an aggressive player that I'm concerned he won't be able to get back to that form

I have a bad feeling he won't be back at all this season. You just don't hear much about him and what you do isn't positive.

With the inactivity of finding a RH Defenseman, I believe Sauer is in alot better shape than people think. We need an RH Dman who is good enough to be a 2nd pairing guy. I heard nothing on the Rangers trying to obtain that guy. That tells me that Sauer is in alot better shape than people think. Stralman Cant be counted on to give 2nd pairing minutes. MDZ really looks out of place on the Right side.

I think Sauer is closer to returning than people think.

Even now, Rangers are going after Doan.
