Awesome, seemed like a very smart player and a good guy. Glad to see him come back and hopefully he can build on what he did last year.

So... two-way or not? That's the question.

#Canucks forward Dale Weise gets a 1 year deal - 1 way. 2 sides avoid arbitration date in 2 days in T-O.

Don't know how to phrase this delicately but who cares? Caphit is the same regardless and I don't think Gillis has shown any reluctance to bury one-way contracts (with a moderate salary e.g. Reinprecht) in the minors to make space.

Good team guy. One of the better fourth liners we've had over the last few years. Certainly blows the likes of Hordichuk out of the water.

I feel like I'm one of the few that's happy he's back.

He has room to become a very good and effective 4th liner. He just played his first full NHL season, and he's still pretty young (turns 24 in August).

VERY surprised to hear that he's only 23. He absolutely has the potential to become a very solid 4th liner.

Not only this but the fact that he didn't make it through waivers the last time (ie. that's why he's a Canuck) means he probably wouldn't end up in the AHL anyway.

I have no problem with this. He's still quite young and has quite a bit of potential. I'm looking forward to seeing how he looks after this off season and developing his game. I love that goal against Ottawa when he just takes it right to the net.

Surprised their is no youtube of Weise absolutely demolishing that Oilers rookie, Alex Plante (in what was Plante's first game of the year).

Weise unfairly got 5 and a game IIRC...but wow, what a hit!

He easily has the potential to become a solid 3rd liner, and an excellent 4th liner. He's young, has talent, and is very strong defensively.

I can see him becoming a 3rd liner if he continues his development. Our 4th line was playing very hard minutes last season, and he looked hardly out of place.

People are always surprised to hear his age. He's improved his fighting and skating since his Rangers days, and could keep trending up.

I'm extremely pleased. He showed some serious chops in his rookie season. Very mature player already, I didn't love him at the start of the season but he won me over. Solid player, great guy. Like I said, very smart player IMO. It's been mentioned in this thread already, but at 24 he's already impressed me.

lol it's much easier to take the cogs for granted when we're not stuck icing Hordi for 5 minutes a game and hope he doesnt' score on his own net.

He was quite good last year playing pretty tough minutes situationally for a rookie 4th liner. I expect he'll take a step forward this year with the added experience.

All of this. I don't get why some people didn't want him back. He still has a few more years to improve & become a mainstay on a 4th line.
