Maybe Howson should have kept his mouth shut. He turned this process into a circus.

no movement clause.

means you can't be traded, nor can you be sent to the minors without your permission.

You know what's a dick move? What Heatley did to ATL.

Nash is perfectly justified in asking for a trade.

He should've thought about that before signing a long term contract with them then.

What if pigs could fly? What if I was the queen of England? The NYR are a team on the cusp of a championship and Nash ASKED to be a member of this team. He had a clear desire to be a part of NYR for whatever the reason(s). What logic suggests that he will now request a trade?
Perhaps he may request a trade in the future if the team sucks? I don't know.

Maybe they should't have sucked so hard then..? Maybe they shouldn't have failed to put together a semi-talented roster so that they could have a chance at doing more than squeaking into the first round?
Maybe Nash should've played better. Maybe he should've lived up to his hype in Columbus the media had given him. His point totals certainly don't reflect him as a guy who should be entitled for trade demands.

Yeah I'm aware. Howson is an idiot, he should've learned first hand not to make it public since he was with the Oilers when they had the Chris Pronger fiasco.

Sorry, went thru 700+ posts prior connecting thread, zipped to end here.

What do we know about this prospect D rangers got, and what is the 'condition' of our conditional 3rd rounder?

Anyone?

Thanks in advance.
Sorry to ask, couldn't see this readily available otherwise.

That makes sense. I always thought that was called NTC (No Trade Clause). I recall that abbreviation being more commonly used. But I might be wrong. Thanks for the explanation

Good chance that if Howson didn't do that, Nash would not be a Ranger right now.

The prospect the Rangers received is Steve Delisle, he is a big defender 6 foot 6, but he put up a pretty awful statline in the ECHL. He is pretty much a throw-in prospect.

CBJ gets their 3rd rounder back if the Rangers make an appearance in the SCF.

Howson was a frikkin idiot for doing that. Nash never said anything publically till the organization threw him under the bus like that on TV. and afterwards he did some lame ass job of explaining it as "helping the team rebuild by getting them assets" basically...he's been rebuilding his entire career...hes got maybe 6 or 7 great years left in him. A rebuild, with this organization, will likely take that entire time span. By that team telling him point blame that he has zero chance of ever winning anything with this organization, he had no choice but to ask for a trade.
Could not agree more. He never went public, even when it looked like Howson was posturing and was never going to get a deal done.

Whatever he lost by asking for a trade he made up for (in my eyes) by staying silent throughout the process.

a NMC is the same thing as a NTC with 1 big exception...in a NMC you can NOT be sent to the minors without your permission, in a NTC you CAN.

so if you're aware of that, how come like 6 times in this thread youve said that it was a public situation. Nash never once made it public, so that shouldnt be even talked about by anti-nash people like yourself. It was a public situation because ownership made it one. That's not on Nash.

Nash said in interview that he'd bring in good assets for a rebuild. That's what I found real funny.

Rick Nash: "This is a world class team, so it's exciting...my No. 1 priority was to be here and I am just happy it worked out"

When asked about pressure playing in NY Nash quickly replied w/smile that he helped Canada win Gold in 2010 Vancouver Olympics

lol.

Gets put on Crosby's line to start Olympics, ends up on 4th line in Olympics and was 12th in team scoring.

No he wasn't.

He signed his extension with CLB almost a full year before he was set to become a UFA. CLB were fresh off their first playoff appearance and things were looking up for the franchise. Nash could have easily waited out and tested the market ala Kovalchuk but he chose to remain loyal to the franchise that drafted him. He actually took less money than what Howson offered, which again, judging by what hes making now, which only further solidifies the fact that Howson is an idiot. However, there aren't too many players who are willing to make a concession when it comes to salary.

Can't fault him for not wanting to hang around during a rebuild. These guys are competitive, they want to win. Do you think Richards would have been upset if the Flyers were a bottom feeder about to embark on a rebuild?

Come on.
