Poile says he thinks Weber never wanted to leave. Was just business and had to do what was best for him.

Poile and Weber thought Suter was going to sign.

Not exactly a revealing press conference, but what one is? Weber will speak at the 3pm presser. That is the real interview. Poile wouldn't commit to saying Shea's first choice was to be a pred. I also thought it was strange that Weber couldn't talk to Trotz during this period? I wasn't aware that was a problem in the CBA?

Three things to take from it though

1. Weber was shocked Suter didn't sign here.

2. Poile is still discussing a NTC with Weber's agents which is a big NO NO in my book. Don't you dare budge Poile.

3. Poile is confident our youth will carry the team next year and would "add pieces" at the correct time. I take it as after we sign blum, we are set for the season, though I really really really hope we add a top 4 dman or a top six forward. I don't need both.

some are saying the structure of the deal is a clear sign that Shea preferred Philly and signed a contract that was intentionally difficult for the Preds to match.

I'm sure that there is some truth to that, but probably not the only reason for the contract and probably not the bad intentions that it seems to be either. I doubt Weber really wanted to hurt Nashville, even if he was going to leave he's not going to intentionally harm the Preds on his way out. It could also very likely be that Shea sees a lockout coming up and instead of signing a the $104M deal with the Preds, which would probably not include a big if any signing bonus at all, with the Philly offer he's guaranteed to be paid handsomely next season with or without hockey being played. Timing is as much a factor in this as team/city preference.

******* is it hard to correct fans from across the league who would rather continue believing ******** so long as it fits their idea of how things really are instead of actually becoming informed.

I feel like a punching bag right now, only a punching bag that is smarter than the people hitting it.

What I believe? I believe Weber did have one foot out the door. When Suter didn't sign, Weber kind of felt like things were going south and made up his mind to move on.

It wasn't out of malice, it was just a feeling the Preds were losing their grip and he didn't think they were going to step up to the plate in the manner a team from a big market would, so he decided the time was right to move on. He knew the Preds could match, but didn't think they'd be able to do so given the way the Flyers had structured the deal.

I think although he had to shift gears after already becoming a Flyer in his mind, that Weber is happy the Preds did step up and is ready to give them his all. He got what he wanted, both financially and organizationally and the "where will he land" chapter is now behind him.

That's just my gut feel, but I think the evidence supports it.

The bullying tactic by their team didn't work, so they're trying bullying tactics themselves as a show of solidarity.

Fringe *******s. They're everywhere. A few more days of it and I'll start pitying the Flyers fans that aren't around making gigantic ***** of themselves but who still get to reap the "benefits" of same.

I'm with you TMI... now we're a team that is losing players left and right if you believe some fans around the league. Yet we've lost only Suter.

this is a train wreck.

Shea seems to be doing his best to avoid the Nashville vs. Philly questions.

Total cop out by Shea on the answer to the philly ?'s and f u 102.5 the game for playing like 3 min of the conference.

Basically Shea's answer to his agent saying he wanted to play in Philly. "It's a business i guess that was his opinion. I love Nashville, the fans, and players.
Not going to cut it in my opinion.

"Weber stresses he wants the no movement clause in the contract because he wants to stay in Nashville."

That's pretty big talk for someone atleast considering another destination. If his heart is in it, I respect him for doing so. If he's staying, he wants to make sure it sticks that way.

Let me clarify.

The broadcast is a train wreck. Shea is doing exactly what I expected him to do.

That's worrying to say the least. Even if you're 100% that the team would match, you should atleast go through some possible scenario's.
