2. Trade Hornqvist, 2013 1st, Austin Watson for Bobby Ryan
3. Sign Semin to a one year $5 m contract
4. Stanley Cup
Bobby Ryan- Mike Fisher- Semin
Wilson- Legwand- Erat
Bourque-Spaling- Smith
Yip-Goose Halischuk
Weber-Josi
J Bo- Klein
Ellis-Gill??
I agree with number 1. I don't think we can expect more than that. I think Kane, semin, Ryan, and Doan are all possibilities, but it really depends on how much more ownership is ready to spend.
now with a couple of hours to think about it, i'm not sure the Preds stand pat at this point. Perhaps the delay wasn't about figuring out if we could afford the contract structure, maybe it was could we afford this contract structure and still make improvements to the roster to be a legit cup contender. Because if all we could do was sign Weber and then be handcuffed from adding any other players with real value, it's probably better to just take the picks and re-build.
So i'm thinking now that the plan is to go for it all, especially if Mr. Wilson is backing things financially.
according to this, if you scroll down to the financial breakdown under the roster, it says we have 16.4 million to spend. we don't have to spend all of it, but we need to spend around 12 IMO so that Weber has a little something extra to work with.
and I am definitely on board of moving Blum, I just don't see him being a guy we can all finally feel comfortable with. Package him and send him out.
Lastly, if we don't move on Jbo, what about Yandle in PHO? Could we send Blum + picks + one more for Yandle or is he out of the picture??

Interesting idea but will most likely cost us Wilson

Those numbers are purely cap numbers. We're spending over $6mil more in real cash on Weber than his cap hit between today and Jun 30, 2013 ..... with another $13mil in cash on July 1st.
regardless of what the actual number is that we have to spend, we definitely have money to go get a scorer that is left in the UFA list.
Doan I think is reasonable, Semin I think is out of question because I think he is going to ask for too much. The only other guys could be Radek Dvorak or Tim Stapleton but they aren't close to the numbers we need if we're going to sign a forward.
If we can't get Doan, I think we have to make a trade for somebody. Maybe Kane is more reasonable than Ryan. Idk, but I feel like we definitely need to sign another top 4 D-man and a top 6 for sure.
I really would like to get a top 6 or a top 4D man. I don't think Winnipeg will trade Kane. Semin is gonna cost a lot of $$. Doan appears to be looking at only a few teams (and a multiple yr contract) and we aren't one of them. To get Ryan will take several players and not sure Ducks and Preds are even talking.
I agree that we need to do add 1-2 more pieces but not sure who to target outside of those mentioned above.
After spending the Weber money, realistically we are not going after the likes of Kane, Ryan or Doan. Semin at the outside - by giving him more years than other teams will. But, we still have a D-oriented team and coach. Our big signings have locked that concept in for a long time.

I expect a $2-$3M veteran D guy is about it.
Agreed. With Poile saying that he believes that the kids will step up this season, that tells me we got the team we're heading to war with.
I'd rather have Doan than Semin; I think Doan works a whole lot better under Trotz' system and has a far better attitude. Him and Fisher are great friends as well. Fair or not, Radulov has also soured my attitude towards Russians.
That said, my expectation is that we sign no one else of substance. Doan has visited like 6+ teams; bidding war will make price exorbitant.

Thats not wha Poile and Trotz have said as of today.
John Glennon @glennonsports
Poile says team and Trotz have had many conversations w Shane Doan. Says if Doan doesn't stay in Phoenix.
There was a tweet during the press conference (haven't listened to it yet) that Poile "didn't exactly dismiss the idea" of offer sheeting Vorachek (per JR Lind).

True or false?
False he dismissed oversheeting anyone IMO over the radio. On the interview on the radio he sounded against it and said he has only tried it one time and it was matched. The Preds just are not that team. They believe in building through the draft.
