I was hoping he was going to copy this mask onto a full helmet. Luongo tried to copy it, but the rusty look along with the design didn't look great.
My favorite modern mask has to be Evgeni Nabokov's Team Russia mask.

Just has the right amount of simplicity, detail and colour.

That's an excellent mask. That simplicity is vital. A lot of goalies these days get really caught up in throwing a million little details on there i think, and it just ends up a muddle mess of stuff...akin to artistic version of a pawnshop. So many things. So little value.

Seriously. Just because you can get the terminator riding on your team's mascot while shooting a flame thrower at an incoming puck with a crying eagle in the background looking on in sorrow at the Challenger explosion, all over top of a weathered old scroll with YOLO written on it doesn't mean that you should.

Man, I LOVE this mask.

It's simple yet detailed and completely inoffensive. I was worried about Cory's taste in design and fashion after seeing his "suit" during the last After Hours interview... but this is totally awesome.

I like the one Lu wore for a practice. It could use a little tweaking, but I like the concept.

Extremely little. They also say that chrome cages blend into your vision better than White/Black/Gold masks.

I have rarely found a difference. Even Cat's Eye Vs. Straight bar seems to have little effect on my performance. I can see the puck a little better from afar, but have a harder time when it's in clsoe with Cats Eye.

Any goalie won't notice a difference between a flat bar or a round bar right in front of their nose.

Also, who ever said that the flat bar is more designed to stop the puck than deflect it made me chuckle. If it's hitting that spot on your mask, you're only hoping that it doesn't hurt and that you'll be able to track it afterwards. It's not exactly a spot you try to make a controlled stop with.

I still will forever love Kari Lehtonen for having a Final Fantasy mask. That was awesome on levels. Schneider's is slick, yes but rather generic. He needs some creativity or a gimmick.

NHL goaltenders have custom-molded masks designed to fit their head/face. The cage is a product of what fits on that and stays out of their line of sit best.
lol. dont take this the wrong way, but thats 100% wrong

luongo gets his mask made at protechsport made by michel doganiari (he then adds a reebok logo on top because of sponsoring of the companies products).. other goalies that get their mask from this company are brodeur, giguere , and roy back in the day. the protechsport masks comes with a standard single bar cateye cage. this type of cage is less protective and more easily bends, but it gives better vision.

majority of the goalies in the nhl though, wear the bauer 961, the standard pro level mask made by bauer. goalies that wear this mask include lundqvist, crawford, howard, lehtonen, schneider etc. fleury/kipper wear the special edition model with a different chin. the bauer 961's have 2 different cat eye cages, theres the single bar or the double bar. an example of the double bar is the one that schneider is wearing, there are 2 bars lined up side by side down the middle. this makes the cage stronger and less likely to break when hit by a puck, the downside is supposedly lesser vision. although from my own playing experience i never noticed any difference

quick gets his mask from sportmask made by tony priolo, other goalies that get the same mask are cam ward and tim thomas (thomas wears a different model called a mage). the sportmasks come with a flat bar cage designed by priolo himself. its basically the same idea as a double bar cage, except instead of molding 2 bars together its one big piece. it serves the same purpose, more metal = less likely to break on a shot. the flat bar cateye cage is only found on sportmasks.

the differences in the looks of the cage depends on which mask company provides/manufactures the cages. and has nothing to do with the shape of a goalie's head. in fact, most goalies in the nhl use a standard kevlar mask, but gets it custom padded with foam for best fit.

Exactly why he should embrace my "Usurper" idea I'm sure Lu's cool with it. And everyone loves Game of Thrones right now.

Very tempting. I'm too content (cheap) with my current cage to switch it.

Schneider will never match Luongo in coolness and style.

I think Luongo's version was much better. The vintage look with the puck marks and all that was pretty cool in my opinion. Rumor has it that he had the mask done over a year ago (before Schneids had his made) and was only wearing it during practice. Again, that's just what I've heard to don't hold me on that.

In terms of Schneiders new mask, it's crispy looking but I think he should have stuck with another tribute mask. He's pulled that off pretty well with his previous two.

"RYP" tribute on the back is quality.
