Nash looked pretty good when he did PK though (maybe as good as Callahan, maybe not but we don't know that), but he CAN do it. I agree about hitting though, Callahan has him beat there.

Mcd for me. As for Staal, while he is very good I have always stated, way before the concussion, that he is a bit over-rated. As for Nash, I would like to see in play in a Rangers uniform first.

This poll really should be done again. I wonder what the ration of voting is in the other category between Callahan and McDonagh.

I feel like even in his best years Staal had more "WTF" type games than McDonagh. Even if someone wants to say that Staal at his best is better than McD at his best it seems to be that McD is less consistently "subpar". Not that Staal is subpar often either.

mcdonagh for ceiling. likely will be our best player next to lundqvist and he's got consistency written all over him. currently on offense probably richards. on defense a healthy staal.

McDonagh... Happy to see many others agree.

Richards, Girardi, Staal, Gabby all get consideration. Have to see Nash before deciding anything there.

1. Lundqvist (no brainer)
2. Gaborik (how many 40+G scorers exist nowadays?)
3. Staal (being overlooked because of his concussed season, and McD)
4. Nash (Nash-ty)
5. McDonagh (stud, teams #1 if he can replicate last season)
6. Richards (stud, but not as studly as he used to be)
7. Callahan (my favorite after Lundqvist, but he's a couple tiers behind some other guys)
8. Girardi (stud 2.0)

When he becomes an RFA next year, im looking to lock his ass up to a lifetime contract. 15 years or somethign crazy like that. no desire whatsoever to see him in any jersey other than Rangers blue.

God that was a beautiful goal

That said I think it is hard to not say Gaborik, 3rd in the league in goals is quite a feat. If McD is able to repeat the success he had this year while continuing to utilize his skating and vision he will easily take this title from Gabby

If he bounces back and plays like he did in March for most of the year, then I think Richie may be the best out of the players listed. Smart player, good vision, nasty slapshot, scores clutch goals. He had 41 assists during a down year and could easily eclipse 60 assists when he's on his game.

Gaborik would be a very close second. Great goalscorer, but he does tend to be streaky and lacks creativity. He's not very good at protecting at the puck and gets stripped of the puck easily when going 1-on-1.

Nash, we'll see, I'm hesitant to judge him until I see how he plays as Ranger. I think E. Kane and Benn have surpassed him as far as power forwards go, they use their size more effectively than Nash has lately. Torts should get Nash to engage more physically, though, in all aspects of the game... hitting, blocking shots, etc.

plus hes an upstate ny kid so gotta go with my homeboy
Cally is the best overall player for sure, in terms of hits and blocked shots and everything. Love the guy

Assists is Richards
Sniper is Gabby
Combo of both is Nash

McD is fantastic but I still think Staal has to be ahead of head based on yrs of awesomeness

great debate to have cause the teams looking good!

I love this roster, but I have to go with McDonagh as our most important skater.

McDonagh had an excellent year. I'm not ready to put him up there until he replicates it, however.

Not including Hank:

1. Gabby
2. Nash
3. Richie
4. Staal
5. McDonagh

Our best skater has been our best skater the last three seasons, and the non-Ranger members of the PHWA seem to agree with me.

I don't know if I'd say McD was our best after Lundqvist but I consider him our most valuable after Lundqvist because I think there's quite a bit more upside there. The guy is amazing. Looked at this way would you trade McD for Gaborik, or Richards or even Callahan? The answer is no.

hard to say who is better nash or gabby. One is big and physical the other has speed. To me adding nash adds that strength and size on offense

Went with Gabby because he's someone who has a legitimate shot at a scoring title any year he's healthy.

Though I really contemplated McD because the kid is that damn good.

we all love him but common cally is being really overrated right now. anyone suggesting that hes better than richards, gaborik, nash, stall, McD is crazy. i love him, i think he is an amazing captain but to say he is the best player on the team (other than hank) is ludicrous. hes good i think hes more than a "3rd line grinder" but to even think that he would have matched this season's production without richie is crazy.

hank
mcdonagh
nash
richards
gaborik
callahan/kreider
stepan

i believe if his defense is more developed then kreider is cally 2.0, bigger, faster, and more talent

As of now, McDonagh.

Let's see Staal after some real training again.

McDonagh will be the reason no. 27 won't be remembered for Kovalev. Can you imagine if he players his entire career for the Rangers? Man, no. 27 will go up at MSG when McD retires... Oh, one can only wish

Glad to see the expectations are tempered.
