jimmy hayes. big body in front of the net, hits, tough along the boards, some offense. hopefully he'll get some time on the 4th line this year. maybe even 3rd

Start a poll with Clendening and Beach, with only one day to vote, to decide who wins. 16 to 15 is too close.

what Hoss said... make a tie breaker for #8 and no, the loser of the tie breaker will not be the #9 prospect

typically a tie breaker comes after a tie takes place.

Wouldn't be surprised if Beach never plays a game for the Hawks.

Oh, he will. If not for his injury this past season he would most definately have been a call-up. IMO, Beach would have been called up before Shaw and definately before Hayes.

I wouldn't be surprised if 50% of the prospects we have never play a game for the Hawks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Beach went on to have a decent career elsewhere either though.

I'm not surprised you think that either, 100% of your posts are just clueless

without a doubt. There was no cap trouble last season, and Beach had shown a lot of improvements before his injury to both his offensive game, defensive game, and his physicality (playing tough, but smart)

Well there is a difference between being #11 overall and never seeing the ice and being one of our other prospects and never seeing the ice.

With that said, I do think Beach will get some ice time this year, I just hope he takes advantage of it. But, he's not a top 10 Hawks prospect.

You're one to talk. I'm not surprised he thinks that, but to say that 100% of HIS posts are clueless? Arrogance at its finest.

Still, if Beach doesn't get a shot here, he'll probably have a decent career in the bottom six of another NHL franchise. Clendening, on the other hand, has a very good chance that he'll make a nice career of himself with Chicago. There's no way it's not Clendening tbh.

A lot of people in this thread weren't even Haws fans when Beach was drafted. He was always going to be a project player. Projects take a while to complete. Beach, aside from the injury, was showing very solid progression since being drafted.

Beach is exactly what the Hawks need: a big body that plays a gritty game and has good hands.

I mean it looked like a steal when he fell to 11. I think he will have a productive career and be a fan favorite... I hope he works hard this summer, gets the shoulder stronger than before and earns a spot by having a great camp..

I remember watching that draft, I wanted Beach all year and didn't think we would get him. I remember two surprises. NYI Taking Bailey, and Vancouver taking Hodgeson.

I thought Snow was reaching with Bailey, he certainly was when he drafted DeHaan....

I also wanted Beach or Wilson is he was there, and was intrigued by Myers... That being said I think it was the right pick at the time.

IINM, Beach was seen as a player who could step into the NHL relatively soon. A guy that was physically ready to play in the NHL and could compliment Toews and Kane in the not-too-distant future.

I guess he was a project in the sense that he's a PWF and they tend to take longer to develope.. but I remember people talking about him like he could make the Hawks in a year or two.

It was 08 and we had just missed the playoffs, We didn't expect such an infusion of talent so quickly after. Plus, had Buff not taken the power forward role, Beach may have been rushed into the job. I thought Beach earned the spot out of camp last season, but wasn't really given much of a shot though. Things happen. Power forwards are projects though, you don't want to be the Vancouver Canucks and give up on Cam Neely.

(I'm not saying Beach is Neely. I know I'm going to get mauled by somebody for that, it's an example)

Yeah, when he took Bailey I was like "what? We might get Beach now!" Then I was just worried about Vancouver before us, thought they would take the tough home grown boy.

Somewhat ironic that they traded Hodgson for a big bodied rugged winger...

Saad-Bolland-Shaw

Imagine of Beach did a better job of what Carcillo did on that line. Perfect!

I will when i get home in a few hours. I fell asleep at 4 pm yesterday :p

As for Beach, it was his brain and maturity that made him a questionmark his early years as a prospect, which seemed to improve. Now its just whether or not the talent has developed at all.
