I think he's mostly honest here. He probably would have rather been in Philly, but isn't upset that he's back in Nashville. I imagine his biggest priority was probably getting that retirement contract. If Suter had stayed in Nasshville, it would have been a done deal weeks ago.

Joe Sakic wanted out of Colorado too then... after all, he did sign an RFA offer sheet once...

Still, he made a play to leave Nashy.

I do agree though, that this wasn't a Nash-like "I gotta get outta here" ploy. He gets an amazing amount of money to stay, and he probably has a good life there, and likes his teammates, etc.

I think it was more of a play to get the retirement contract he wanted but Nashville wasn't offering.

He forced Poile's hand in the matter is all. That's what I read from it day one, and that's what I see now.

I think he wanted the retirement contract AND he wanted out of Nashville. He knew that this was his last chance to get the kind of front loaded deal that Suter and Parise got and he understood that Nashville has the right to match it.....But I still think he would've preferred that Nashville NOT match it and play for Philly. He knew full well that deal was structured to make it extremely tough for the Predators to match....and he was OK with that fact.

There is no way his agents would've said the things they said if there wasn't some truth to it. Where there's smoke there's fire.

He got the money, and I'm sure he's quite happy with that....But I think he would've preferred to have the money AND play for the Flyers.

Disagree with that as well. Some players let their agents do everything, and we have seen on many occasions agents getting fired by players they were representing because the agent took it too far.

Not all players are completely hands off, but many are. I get the impression that the agent was hoping (as this isn't a major hockey agency) to get Weber to Philly so they could pick up more of a name in hockey in more of a hockey market with more endorsement opportunities for his client.

I agree, Weber would not have been upset had he gone to Philly... but I think he's absolutely happy staying in Nashville as well.

I think he must be absolutely ecstatic he got offer-sheeted before the new CBA gets ironed out. Really, that was the best thing that could have happened to him.

And Devils fans are devastated... Oh wait, Semin isn't any good and is overrated anyway, they're actually glad he signed elsewhere.

So will JStaal and Semin make them contenders now? Does that make them the runner-up winners of this year's silly season? Interesting moves...

He can't be paid more than Kovalchuk, nevermind that the cap has raised 10+mil since Kovalchuk signed his deal

You wont ever sign an impact free agent if it has to be below a contract signed years ago.

Am I the only one who hasn't really cared where anyone else went after the Wild signed Suterise (they do deserve a celebrity name IMO)? It was like "WOW, it doesn't get much better than this. Let's start the season already." I figured the Jets weren't gonna make any splash signings either after Olli (and to a much lesser extent, Poni). At this point, I couldn't care less where anyone else goes.
