Pominville, with one "m"

Two things I'm hoping to do with this thread.

1) get people to realize that he only has one "m" in his name. He's been here long enough. Unless you have legit brain issues, there's no reason to keep misspelling it.

2) realize that he did an above average job as a first year captain on a team that rode a rollercoaster for the whole season. From the terrible first half of the year to the great second half, he kept on chugging. Consistency is a great mark for a leader. Not the only one, but one. It was a good choice for Captain and maybe PoMinville can relax a little and step up his game to a new level. If not, well he's certainly not hurting the team. Remember how lots of people thought he was overpaid when his contract was signed? Now Dennis Wideman is being paid more.
I am 100% comfortable with PoMinville being the Captain of the Sabres.

Yeah but Pomer sounds like some kind of racial slur

It was the same Poms its always been, people were just hating on him for whatever reason. Only one year did he fall off, but he had serious injuries. A hit that doesnt get talked about enough in 2010.

What a nice thing to say but with Pomminville as our captain we missed the playoffs when we shouldn't of missed the playoffs. Some of that responsibility is on Pomminville so I am not 100% satisfied. Is Pomminville with two m's?

I was at that game. It WAS brutal. And he's come back to be as reliable as ever. More proof that he's the right choice for Captain.

My gripe with this post is less of the Pominville misspelling, but more of the use of Shouldn't Of... it should be, "Shouldn't have"

On topic however, I'm shocked at how underrated Pominville still is, guy plays all three ends of the ice really well, is a leader, consistently puts up points, he's one of those guys that you just need to have on your team. I'm always shocked when I see him in trade proposals still.

Damn you for quoting things I wouldn't have normally seen!

And yeah, he's an all around, solid player who would be cherished on whatever team he played for. Hell, if he was a Leaf, they'd want him in the Hall of Fame.

I like him a a captain. He and Vanek stepped up and carried our offense the first half of the season..They still couldn't buy a win. I remember an interview with Pom, where the reporter commented on how productive he had been of late, and -- unsolicited -- he said he would trade every single bit of his individual success for team success if he could.

Also, iirc, the wins we got at the end of the season started trickling in after Pom called a team meeting after the Jan 21st loss to STL. Maybe it's completely coincidental, but I'd bet he did something to get the team refocused.

Ah that's fair, I'm a teacher so it's a pet peeve of mine, but good call.

I suppose from now on until it catches on I'll start typing PoMinville too.

I was as well. Hard hit.

I'm extremely happy he's our captain. Have always loved him. Never once ever had a problem with him being here. I'm very thankful he plays for us and has for his whole career. I've watched him for so many years; watched him grow as a player and leader. I look back on that 05-06 goal in the playoffs in Ottawa and still would have never thought that kid who got around Alfredsson and past Emery would be an NHL captain now.

I don't want to see him play anywhere else. He's the definition of a class act in the community too. Great player and an amazing person if you ever get the chance to talk to him and meet him.

I am shocked that there is only one M in there. Oh well, I'm in Ocean City so I'm gonna go hit on Hooter's girls and get drunk and pass out.

But seriously ONE M??? I've been spelling that wrong for like 5 years!!!

THANK YOU!!!

First, I've apologized for my misspellings over and over.

Second, if you are going to be upset about spelling Pominville wrong, just wait for the years of me misspelling Grigs and Girgs!!!!!! (full names of course!!!!)

Third, Pomms and captain. He had a great year and was our best, most consistent player. I'll give him kudos for the year he had. As for being the captain, I'm not a fan. Again, I'll harp on one incident, Lucic. If he really wanted to lead the team, he should've dropped the gloves, got his ass kicked, and the Sabres would not of been embarrassed to the entire league. Great year but the one time we needed a leader to step up, he wasn't there. Sorry, that's my opinion, I like a tough guy, not a Lady Byng guy.

I don't see too many people spell Pomminville, but, people spelling Meyers is beyond annoying. And it still happens often.

I agree. I like my team captains a little more vocal and physical on the ice.
Pom did have a great year statistically and was the most consistent player all year. I have learned to appreciate him a little more than I have in recent years.

My favorite is when people spell Regier and Regehr the same way. Like they're the same person.

Or Regher
Or Erhoff
Or Adams
Or Hodson

I've seen all these more than twice by the same posters. I can understand once, and realizing you spelled it wrong... But multiple times?
