Erixon duped Calgary and dropped a bomb on them, but there were warnings. How many people saw Nash asking out?

Not many. Nash's trade demand/request floored a lot of people.

That's a very classy way of asking out.

Howson messed this whole thing up when he went public with the request.

Nash did everything you would want from a player that no longer wanted to be where he was.

No deal got done at the deadline, what did Nash do? Played.

Did he complain? No

Did he go to the media? No.

What on gods green earth could you not like about the way he handled this?
Honestly if you told him he'd won 50 million dollars and that he would marry Candice Swaenpoel he'd still be unhappy.

Except he had every reason to request a trade and it should have NEVER gone public, but when you have a clown running the organization, **** happens.

By the way, it was this time last year that I brought up how we needed a player just like Rick Nash, and was quickly labeled as being an idiot for 1) saying Nash would want out if his team continued to struggle and 2) saying that Nash would fit on our roster contractually...

Holla at ya boy...

Messier did it constantly as a player.

Got Roger Neilson fired and Nedved traded the first time.

If he could have continued to grow I think he would have stayed as an untouchable.
That's not fair.

He had one bad season.

All he did up until last season was progress and get better. He had a bad season. that is all.

his only downfall is that he's not what the Rangers needed most which is a talented 1st line winger that Dubi was never projected to become.

No the problem was that he was an overpriced 3rd liner. It was financial reasons that got him shipped out of NY. That's about it. He wasn't producing to his contract, and we have a fan base that is more inclined to instant gratification than most other fan bases.

IMO if Dubi hadn't held out last offseason and taken a home town discount, he would still be here. Dubi had to have known asking for 4 mil a season would raise expectations. You ask for more money, you're going to get shipped out when you don't live up to it.

Its pro sports people. Dubinsky and his agent Kurt Overhardt took the Rangers to the morning of the arbitration hearing(the hearing was delayed at both parties request)to sign the 4 year/$16.8M contract. The Rangers paid him a $1M signing bonus sometime earlier this month. Columbus is responsible for remaining $2.75M. Dubinsky will make $4.65M per(real money) in the last 2 years of the contract. Brandon will be fine.

Yes, of course brilliant. We acquire a first line winger and your foremost concern is how often he punches people.

I think it was a fair trade for both sides... Dubinsky is going to tear it up next year and AA should put up 55 points while playing smart hockey.

Dubi = 65 points.

Richards and Gaborik don't fight. Let's get rid of those chumps.

Howson is why it became the Rangers or nothing. He kept asking for the world from EVERY team until the GM's all just decided to tell Howson to **** off and they left the sweepstakes.

Howson turned it into a one team ordeal with the Rangers.
Those teams didn't have the assets/or weren't interested. Or in the case of Detroit and San Jose, they're conference rivals. Philly was awaiting the Shea Weber offer sheet and Boston doesn't have the assets to land Nash and Chiarelli said they weren't interested. Carolina wasn't on the list.

Most GMs get the pink slip after that kind of debacle.

Can't find any evidence with Nash wanting him out; probably was a rumor.
I definitely think Howson should be fired, but Nash has no right as a player to play a role in upper management. Or at least, he shouldn't.

I like that Nash is willing to fight.

Here's hoping he never needs to though.

Where do you come up with this stuff? Fighting doesn't matter, especially when you're talking about star players. It's almost completely irrelevant in today's game. Nash has eight career fights going all the way back to juniors. Take a hint. We didn't get him so he can goon it up. An unwillingness to drop the gloves isn't what kept us from the cup last year.
