I think this is about the best we could hope for going into next season. Since we likely don't have a way of upgrading our defense, we should take the opportunity to upgrade the offense.
I think people are over estimating how much more production Briere has at center then wing. If you look at the numbers they aren't that different. Briere was successful playing with Hartnell and Leino. Leino held on to the puck forever to make a play much like Giroux.
Semin would have plenty of room playing with Schenn and Simmonds. Semin is also an under rated passer who I could see setting up one timers for Schenn in the slot.
The third line would be a solid checking line that can produce pts without the pressure of being a scoring line.
The fourth line would be a pain in the butt to play against. They are all veteran plays with good reputations that would get some leeway when playing against the other teams top lines.
The D would be a solid group that could be improved at the deadline as they gauge Kimo's health and Schenn progress.
the problem is this team has no snipers just a bunch of passers to get the fancy play this team is not built to win a cup if they were, they would have more snipers like the kings, this team is never going to win anything unless schenn and court can shoot pucks, if they cant do that than they are not the players you think they are.
people use the excuse trolling because they dont want to be realistic about this team they want to believe they will win a cup with schenn and courts, i mean seriously, what makes you think they will ever win a cup? it's been 37 years, probably 38, there's no one on this team that has dangerous players, hartnell, briere, talbot, giroux, schenn, courts, jake if signed and the rangers have callahan, richards, nash, gaborik, kreider,
those players the rangers have are dangerous players, how are those players on the flyers dangerous besides giroux? hartnell is streaky, briere struggles, schenn is unproven, court is unproven, jake is unproven, talbot is streaky, simminds streaky, you dont know what you are getting out of these guys, they could be all jvr type of players, good one season and bad the next. none of these guys dont spell dangerous,
if you think they are better than richards, nash, gaborik, you are out of your minds.

That game works two ways. Richards underwhelmed, Nash is on the decline, Gaborik is streaky and injured, Kreider is unproven, Callahan's play style leads to catastrophic injuries, and Lundqvist is getting older every year.
You're being unrealistically negative. Let me try it out:
1) The sun will fuse into carbon, and we will all die.
2) The moon is pulling away, tides will vanish, we will all die.
3) A comet will hit the earth, we will all die.
4) A gamma ray burst is going to hit us, and we will all die
5) We keep getting older, we're never going to get younger, we're just going to die.
6) We didn't get Weber, our defense is going to be slightly above average until we die.
7) Every other team is better, until we die.
8) Every team's players are better than our players, until we die.
9) We're all going to die and never be happy ever because we are going to die.
I just think Homer's going to pull off something that none of us see coming , he's not the type of GM to sit and stand pat even after the Parise, Suter and Weber whiffs.

1) I am not that big of a Wellwood fan. Don't get me wrong, the kid is pretty decent, but to me he is just an Andreas Nodl type of player or a cheap Matt Read. Many people will not agree with me, but that is just how I feel.
2) I am not a fan of Rinaldo for the most part. I think Tom Sestito came in last year and tried to prove too much and just looked like an idiot at times. This guy can play hockey better than Rinaldo IMO, and he is a big dude who can skate.

I feel keeping both Rinaldo and Sestito dressed for alot of these games are important , tell ya why... Im sure some will disagree but...
I was pissed and embarrassed about what the Pens did in the last week of the season and in 2 of the playoff games with the bullying and cheap-shot tactics .. there's nothing that makes my blood boil more then when I see guys out there on the ice in those situations that arent either prepared to fight back or cant defend themselves during those "line brawls" Im not hat big of a Lavi fan as it is but if that were Keenan, Barber, Hitch, or heck even the Cake Baker , then one of those coaches would have made sure the team was ready for something like that to break out .. even with a few games vs the Rags in the past year, the flyers got embarrassed physically.

This team as constructed , no matter what alot of us think are not that "team" tough when it comes to the extra curricular stuff that goes on with games with the Pens, Sens and Rangers and now potentially the Sabres ... Now Asham replaces Prust on the Rags , Prust use to punish the Flyers , Ash got Schenn up high with a cheap hit, someone needs to address that other then Hartsy and Max Talbot . Heck even Max ( and bless his heart I love the guy) lost some of that ***** "edge" he had in years past when he came to Philly last year.....
