So, with Weber resolved, think Jake signs today or tomorrow?

I am guessing tomorrow, but it isn't 4 yet so it could be today.

H-G-V, all season. I like it. They were dynamite together on the PP in the playoffs.

yeah I hope Voracek works on his shot all summer and can make himself even more of a threat. Him and G showed great chemistry

What players would Philly want in return for Voracek from a Sharks perspective..A young PMD,goalie prospect and a player. Demers,Sateri,Clowe for Jake?

Basically, the Flyers need a PMD. Kimmo cannot play the entire game.

And a #1 defenseman.

Flyers defense is basically:

2 #2s
2 #4s
2 #7s

With a lot of money sunk into it and one guy who is adept at moving the puck. Maybe 2 now (hoping). What do you have?!

I think 2 number 2s is the upside of our line-up. Kimmo cannot sustain number 2 defenseman play for a season nor has Coburn shown that he can do it consistently. As stated above, both slot better as number 3s with Coburn the more likely number 2 if he plays consistently.

We also potentially have 3 number 4s right now.... and a 6-7.

We need a number 1 and everything slots better.... unfortunately much of the league can say that.

“@BroadStBull: Homer says he is close to resigning Voracek.”

I think he'll be re-signed in the next couple days

Seems like whenever he says that, the guy goes away.

Just what I was going to say. Since the market is pushing his cap hit up, might as well try to buy a free agent year at this point. Either a 2 year or a 4 year deal. 2 years means he'll still be RFA when this contract expires.

Lol, I don't think that'll be he case this time. He also said

“@BroadStBull: Homer says he doesn't see a hole on G's RW, and he envisions Voracek playing on that line as RW.#Flyers”

Meltzer just tweeted this:

Quote:
WE KNOW FIRST | Priority in long negotiations getting more famous names from the free-market players. But now, the future James Voráček with Philadelphia again tightly linked. According to iSport.cz at night on Thursday caught up negotiations on a new agreement under which the Czech world champion for the next four years earning a total of $ 17 million, around 360 million.

4 years, 17 million isn't too shabby in my opinion. At least he's locked up now

UPDATE: There are reports in the Czech media, still awaiting confirmation here, that Jakub Voracek is on the brink of agreeing to a four-year, $17 million contract with the Flyers.

4.25 mil per year. Not awful considering today's market. Glad to get him locked up. Hopefully he strengthens his shot this offseason and makes himself even more of a threat

No confirmation as of yet on a Voracek deal, so take it for what FWIW until then. Yesterday, Holmgren sounded positive that deal was close.

If Czech report is correct on Voracek, a $4.25 mil per cap hit seems in line with the market.

If Jake is with G on the first line all season and gets PP minutes, easy 35 goals....oops if the NHL has a full season.

Jake locked up for another 4 years @ 4.25M? Fair enough, he could have a breakthrough season playing along side G.

unless Jake worked on his shot this summer, no, I don't see him scoring 35 goals. That's a big jump considering the guy has a pretty bad shot.

as for the numbers (4 years, $17m), I can live with that

I dont think he gets 35 goals. But I'm positive he hits atleast 25. Add 40-50 assits and I'll be fine with that

Other than that...seems like a fair price, considering todays market.

Jake whenever he is interviewed even says he's not a goal scorer....the guy is a 20 goal guy with 30 goal potential but not consistently IMO. He's more a playmaker type with his wheels and size. We need him to break out up the ice now that we sacrificed a bit on the D with puck movement.

I think his contract is fair value...I'm glad he's signed. I like Jake and see him having a 60 pt year at least.

If Jake can bring 65 points, we will all do this

I don't think he can hit 30.. His shot isn't terrible, but he needs to work on it

Disappointing cap hit but the length should help. Really shows how much of a steal Giroux is at 3.75. That guy needs a new agent.
