This isn't ****ing 2006. The cap has almost doubled. These kinds of players are now worth 4-5 million dollars.

I suspect just like all other threads where people claim someone is ridiculously overpaid/will be ridiculously overpaid and I ask this question, I won't get any answers.

EDIT: I realize UkraineTrain may have meant 2M total, not 2M on the cap hit. If so, same challenge... you're unlikely to find somone with his stats, age and potential who has recently agreed to a multi-year deal with a 3.75M cap hit.

Should be a slam dunk for 60 points this season.

He's a good two way player, too. I think its totally a fair deal.

What is Jake's RFA status? Would he still be a RFA after this contract?

Brad Marchand who's much better signed for 2.5 per last year.

Looks to be a done deal

David Strehle ‏@David_Strehle
Agent Petr Svoboda has confirmed to me via email that RFA winger Jakub Voracek has indeed signed a new contract with the #Flyers.

yes, but that was his second contract after his ELC, which is similar to what Voracek signed after his ELC

Brad Marchand hasn't even been in the league 3 full years, so he can't meet this criteria.

Not to mention his contract was signed after his rookie season. Any who, if Voracek keeps progressing and reaches his full potential this is more then worth it.

Marchand signed that contract last off-season for 2 years. Voracek also signed a contract last off-season...want to guess for what?

Fair enough, but that was a year ago, is only a two year deal and he had only had one 40+ point season, not 3. Guarantee he gets something more like 4.25M next contract.

UFA. He'll finish the contract with 8 season played so a 4 year deal buys 1 UFA year.

lol.

Back after Kesler accepted the Flyers offer-sheet in 2006:

"Wow, can't wait until the Flyers have to deal with all the offer-sheets to their young players!"

After Weber accepted the Flyers offer-sheet last week:

"Wow, can't wait for teams to try and offer-sheet Voracek!!"

Hilarious.

No, it's way easier to just throw out comments like "ridiculous overpayment". Guarantee if most people had a shot at having Voracek on this contract on their team, they would be singing a different tune in a heartbeat.

People tend to over react, just as Flyer fans were so sure they were smarter then everyone else, and that there was no way Nashville would match for Weber.

Not to mention most of that talk was when the Weber situation was in its prime, and most people were saying that if Nashville didn't match other teams would offer sheet him and their young players in a couple of years because it would be tough for Philly to get under the Cap.

Good deal for both parties.

All the people claiming that it is overpayment are shooting their own credibility. If you look at nothing but the final stats sheet, then yes, it is overpayment.

But if you actually watch Voracek and recognize he is one of the quickest, most creative, and most tenacious players on the Flyers, you would recognize that he is worth a deal like this. He is only 22, I have no doubt in my mind he will break out next season. I have never seen a player better poised to break out than Voracek right now.

If by Flyer fans you mean Flyer fans, insiders, most fans of the NHL not from nashville and the press, then I totally agree.

Certainly not a steal for the Flyers, but not absolutely horrible either. He will have to improve this season to be worth it, but that may very well happen.

I has to be a little strange that this kid will make more than Giroux though. Great teammate and all, but that has to grate on Claude a little. But I guess we all know his payday is coming.
