I miss Stevie Heinze. I'd always take him in the old NHL games.

New idea......

Phoenix gets the ownership thing figured out, Doan just can't pull the trigger and leave, re-ups with the Yotes and they need/want a little less payroll.....

Ladies and gents I give you a new idea......

Martin Hanzal !!!!!!!!

I'd trade Adam and Hodgson for Hanzal in a heartbeat.

And Holmgren still looks like a Dick Tracy character.

Let me preface by saying that I know Hanzal isn't going to be traded.*

Firstly, you'd be trading for Hanzal to compliment Ennis and Hodgson. Trading one for him is counter-productive. Nextly, a package of Adam and Hodgson would net a greater return than Martin freaking Hanzal, a third line center. No amount of intangibles is going to aide Hanzal in returning two very promising young players. Players like Hodgson don't get traded for players like Hanzal.

Your anti-Hodgson agenda has grown tired.

Surely you jest, otherwise you have no concept of value.

I think I'd rather have Kane in the first D paring. Other than that, it looks good.

Not really. Four years of NHL service and third contract for Voracek, 2 years NHL (3 overall) and second contract for Ennis. Voracek's deal also buys one UFA season if it is confirmed as a 4-year one.

It could, but I doubt it. Voracek has been in the league for four seasons now. This deal also buys a year of his UFA status, I'm fairly certain (could be wrong).

Edit: beat to it by Chain.

Voracek is on his 3rd contract
Ennis is due his 2nd contract

Voracek has 319 games
Ennis has 140 games

I don't think it should spell any trouble.

This team gave Paul Gaustad 2.5. If Ennis gets less than 3.25, I'll be quite surprised. If Ennis gets 4, that's predictable.

Remember, he's the Buffalo Sabres #1 center now. What he wants, within reason, he's going to get.

that contract bought a few years of UFA.

Ennis can sign a short term deal (1-2 yrs) and it will be in the 3.0 per range. Or he can go long term, give up UFA years (4+ year contract), and get around 4.0

If I'm Darcy, I take the long contract. You're not in cap trouble this year, and you do more to keep yourself out of cap trouble by getting him now. If we're all right about him, Ennis is going to command some real good money on contract #3.

I'd love to see a Derek Roy like contract. That was great value.

What do you expect, he still thinks Hodgeson is a winger.

I'm totally for an Ehrhoff contract at 4-4.5M. If he meets expectations its a steal. If he continues at his current pace its a decent contract especially as salaries continue to climb. If he completely falls apart, you can always trade or bury the contract and he'll only be 32-33 at the end of it.
