It will definitely be 1.4 and 2.0. I mean, come on, think about it.

Haha calm down, I wasn't going nuts over it. Nitpicky yes but it all adds up in the end.

Kevin Allen of USA Today is reporting

Quote:
Stralman reaches deal

New York Rangers defenseman Anton Stralman agreed to a two-year, $3.4 million contract, avoiding Tuesday's salary arbitration hearing.

He's the 15th player to settle beforehand. Anaheim Ducks defenseman Kyle Cumiskey is the last player with a hearing, scheduled for Wednesday.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hocke...nes/56507800/1

Allen knows his stuff.

A little high(not much). $1.5M per after the Fayne deal. Not a big deal. $1.7M.

Stralman will be a group III when the deal expires. It doesn't matter how the contract is structured. Stralman isn't getting a qualifying offer based on the last year salary unless the new CBA changes the age/experience requirements for group III.

Love the signing. Was not happy at all with the rumors of him heading back to Sweden. Think he is more import ant then given credit. Hopefully we can lock up MDZ for under 2.5, Sauer comes back healthy, and we land Doan.

Unlikely but one can dream

Nash-Richards-Doan
Kreider-Stepan-Gaborik
Hagelin-Boyle-Callahan
Rupp/Asham-Halpern-Pyatt

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Sauer
Del Zotto-Stralman
Bickel

That team is a clear favorite.

Won't matter. The cap hit is the average. 1.7 million.

hey whatever they have the space. Still plenty under even after DZ gets his 3 plus

For those that say the team has changed quite a bit remember the D and G are exactly the same. They may sign a cheap UFA just in case Sauer is not ready and then carry 8 D when he is. That would be the only addition

As for the F spots Asham and Halpern are for fights and faceoff/PK.......4th line duty so they wont see much time overall.

The Core has been kept together and thats the most important thing. Hate to see Dubi and AA go but they needed a goal scorer like Nash so it was a necessary move

DZ will get between $2.5M-$3M. 2 year bridge contract. 2nd contracts for Erik Johnson in 2010. 2 years/$5.2M. $2.2M and $3M. $2.6M AAV. Zach Bogosian in 2011. 2 years/$5M. $2M and $3M. $2.5M AAV. DZ had better numbers than Bogosian. If the Rangers go longer than 2 years, more money.

Hope his great play continues. It's a steal of a contract if he plays the same this year. I doubt we'd see any real regression or anything, but you never know. I gotta give the guy a lot of credit for changing around his entire game. It's not every day where you see a coach pretty much transform a player.

With Prust, we already had a gritty guy. He just took it to the next level under Torts. Stralman somehow grew a pair under Torts. Never thought I'd see the day where Anton Stralman is someone I'd want on my team until Torts changed him.

If we signed Doan, he would likely play LW. He has played left wing before and Brooks listed him as a left wing in his article saying the Rangers met with him.

Cally won't be playing 3rd line minutes. He's a 30 goal scorer. We would most likely go with

Nash Richards Callahan
Doan Stepan Gaborik
Kreider Boyle Hagelin
Pyatt Halpern Asham
Rupp

McDonagh Girardi
Staal Sauer
Del Zotto Stralman
Bickel

I know Doan would be awesome but I rather not add more money to next yr with McD, Stepan, Hagelin up for new contracts

Just go out and get a rental at the deadline. They have 3 - 3rds , I expect one gone for a rental

I was saying IF we signed Doan. I'd rather not commit to him long-term.

RD is set with Girardi, Sauer healthy and Stralman

Upfront ,My only hope is that Thomas and Miller can have good camps and be call up options during the yr

on LW they are set with Nash, Kreider, Hagelin, Rupp. Perfect balance and I have confidence in Kreids and Hags having solid yrs.

on RW they are good with Gaborik, Callahan( if the season starts late ), Pyatt is interesting as a 3rd liner cause I havent really seen him but he does add size. Asham is a fine 4th liner

at C the top two are set with Richards and Stepan. Like it or not Torts loves Boyle as the 3rd line C and Halpern can be better than Mitchel. We wanted a face off C so they got one.

So I like the top 12 but if someone gets hurt they need Thomas or Miller to step in

For the 13th F I expect Haley or Segal to sit around on the cheap.
Other options in CT are not that great. Maybe Hrvik or Yogan surprises..........maybe Bourque can turn into a 4th line C..........Newbury never seems to do well at the NHL level like he does in the minors. Kolarik was out all of last yr.

Putting Kreider and Hagelin with Boyle is very counter-productive.

Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Doan-Boyle-Callahan
Pyatt-Halpern-Asham

Callahan gets some of Hagelin's shifts because he deserves more minutes than Hagelin. That 3rd line would be extremely solid defensively and would outwork any other line in the league.

Great news. Was really really happy with the way he played this year, especially in the playoffs. Felt he was very overlooked. Glad he's back for 2 years.
