what i mean't was exaggerate on his other abilities... ive seen Voracek play a lot especially in playoffs and i have reviewed many of his highlights and flyers games during the season.
IMO i really don't see how his other abilities apart make him a 4.2mill$ player. Don't get me wrong, the player is decent but to say that because of his 2way game, playmaking and hands that hes worth 4.2mill is bull. If he would have been such a good playmaker like you guys say he is he would have a lot more then 49pts playing on the first PP and with Briere for a full season. Yes he can play a good 2way game but its nothing close to be bringing that up to say that thats one of the main reasons why his salary is high.
as of right now hes overpayed, period.
Btw how can i be exaggerating on Pacioretty if he hit 33goals 65pts this year?. so apparently its called exaggerating saying that the season before he would have hit 30 goals and 50 pts when he was at 14goals 24pts after only 37games?

Neways im done commenting on this thread. have a good day
lol, that should tell you why he didn't have more assists/points. Briere was terrible during the regular season. He had a crazy goal drought and finished the season with 16 goals (that includes a hat-trick) and only kicked it into gear right before the playoffs. If you actually watched any of Voracek during the regular season you would know this. You would also know that in the brief time Giroux missed time with a concussion Jake was promoted to the top line and he was easily the best player on the ice in that time. So take it from the people who actually watched this player all year when we tell you that this will not be an overpayment for long if it is at all.

Gravy 1st unit PP time and cant crack 50 points. He's worth around 3 million for what he brings. He isnt physical and mediocre defensively.

While he's not physical, he's very good defensively and he has more raw talent than anyone on the team not named Giroux or Briere. At 3M he would have one of the best contracts in the league given the new caps going around. I wouldnt have been mad if we signed jake at 5M.

So......30 teams x 3 forwards = 90. So if you are in the top 90 points...you are a first liner right? The #91 point F had 50 points this year. Jacob had 49. Soooo I think that we can conclude he is a 2nd liner on the verge of becoming a 1st liner in points. He makes 6% of the teams Salary cap. Yup...he is worth the $.

I think the difference between him, Perron, and Gagner is pretty simple.
Gagner got less because he only got a 1 year contract, Perron got slightly less because of his medical history.

Voracek's contract is perfectly reasonable. Good for both sides.

I would say about .5 too much, which isnt a big deal really. He has fantastic potential, so that contract could well look like a steal in a year or two.

Voracek is just better than Gagner, and I'd argue he's better than Perron too

If he was "very good defensively" as you state he would play more than a few seconds on the PK which I'm pretty sure he doesnt.

Solid deal, good price on today's market. Voracek is a good top 6 winger, he's pretty underrated on HF boards.

I honestly think this is a great deal for a 22 year old 50 point player I don't get the hate.

Because good defensively = must play on the PK.

I'm a Pens fan and I wish the Flyers nothing but the worst, but I just can't see how this is a bad deal. I think the Weber contract was too much (term-wise) and I generally also think that Holmgren is not actually a very good GM but what the hell, this kid's got a lot of potential and even if he miraculously disappears somewheer in Europe, this isn't like a handcuff deal at all. The risk is relatively low and the benefit could ("could" since he's definitely not certain to progress that much) be huge.

So, let's just hope he'll turn out to be a major disappointment.

X player is not on your team, therefore he is an overpaid bum.

See Nash, Rick.

3+ minutes on the PP isn't 1st unit? Please explain what he does away from the puck that makes him "very good defensively"? Are you telling me that Voracek finishes all of his checks and drops the gloves? He's not soft but he doesnt initiate physical play at all.

"very good defensive" forwards do play the PK.
Mediocre ones play 33s a game, poor ones avoid the PK at all costs. Its common sense

Or there are better pkers on the team. Giroux, Talbot, Read and Couts. Not playing pk when other guys on your team do it better and not finishing all of your checks/dropping the gloves does not mean your a mediocre defensive player. To be honest i can't even beleive someone would use this as an argument. I might not say "very good" but he sure as hell is more then mediocre.
