Would love to see the Leafs sign Vandermeer, too bad we don't have any room for him.

I'm friends with someone who knows Cam Barker and apparently Barker currently has three offers on the table from NHL teams.

The person I know believes one of the teams is the Flyers, so take that for what it's worth.

would like to see Gillis take a chance on Spacek on a cheap (2-2.5m) one year deal. a character veteran who probably doesn't mind taking on a supporting role in the team in this stage of his career, he seems to have become a fan favorite in his short stint with the Canes last season.

Do you know if those deals are one or two ways?

Commodore, Mike D TBL 32 $1,000,000 2012 (UFA) .....AHL
Huskins, Kent D STL 33 $1,000,000 2012 (UFA)

Vandermeer, Jim D SAN 32 $1,000,000 2012 (UFA),,,,,,,,,,,,,AHL
Predictions:

Rozsival, Michal - NHL one-way deal if he accepts less, or Europe
Kubina, Pavel - Europe
Spacek, Jaroslav - NHL one-way, Europe, or retirement
Finger, Jeff - retirement
Eaton, Mark - retirement
Barker, Cam - NHL two-way deal
Martinek, Radek - Europe or retirement
Colaiacovo, Carlo - NHL one-way
Foster, Kurtis - NHL one-way
Campoli, Chris - NHL two-way or Europe---I wouldn't be surprised if he headed to Switzerland
Jurcina, Milan - Europe or retirement (he was absolutely wretched)
Clark, Brett - retirement
Jones, Randy - NHL two-way
Commodore, Mike - retirement (the reclamation project failed)
Huskins, Kent - retirement
Hannan, Scott - NHL one-way
Lukowich, Brad - retirement
White, Colin - retirement
Gilroy, Matt - NHL two-way
Vandermeer, Jim - AHL

The only real quality UFA defenseman I see is Scott Hannan, and I'm surprised someone else hasn't picked him up yet. I rank the ones with NHL futures on 1-way deals a follows: Hannan, Roszival, Spacek, and Colaicovo. Other than that, you're signing for depth or the minors.

Would love to see Hannan in EDM, pity we don't have room for him (would have to move one or both of Peckham or Potter). But he is a good third pairing option, a third pairing of him and Whitney would be a good option, with Sutton rotating in.
