Buf-NYI

C/LW Adam

D Sekera

Buffalo 2013 2nd rnd pick

RW Grabner

The Isles get a decent more experienced top 4 d-man for a reasonable cap hit, a decent prospect who can fit right in at 2nd line left wing, and a valuable pick which will probably be somewhere in the middle of the second round.

The sabres are able to make some more room for younger d-men on the roster like Mcnab and they get a young fast winger who scores 20+ consistently and has 30+ potential

I think I threw up in my mouth a little

EDIT:

Counter Offer:

To NYI: Drew Stafford

To Buffalo: NYI 2013 2nd Round Pick, Ryan Strome, D Travis Hamonic (insert sarcasm face)

Of course, I kinda just reversed the role and put in similar type value, I appreciate the effort on these trade proposals but seriously, this isn't even close.

Why do we need more wingers? There wouldn't even be room for Grabner on the team unless we buried Leino in the AHL, which I'm sure would go over really well.
I also don't get the desire to rush McNabb into a top 4 role when we only have 3 roster D signed beyond next year, and already have 2 question marks in our top 7 in Sulzer and Weber.
The only scenario in which giving up Sekera makes any sense is if we're upgrading/adding at center.

TL;DR: Why?

Makes no sense for the sabres, value wise and position wise. I wouldn't trade Sekera straight up for Grabner, that's how good he was last season.

Just for laughs, what if the Sabres were allowed to add Leino to the deal? Would that change Sabres' fans' opinion at all?

Getting rid off Leino isn't worth losing Sekera or the 2nd rounder.

The OP is not coming from an Islander fan. It's coming from a Sabres fan.

Well, I guess Grabner is the closest thing to Afinogenov there is out there.

Seriously, there is a basis for a Buffalo-NYI trade. I just have this feeling that Josh Bailey would be a great fit there. I don't know why, but as a NYI fan, I do. I don't think he works as a center on NYI, mostly because of our non-physical wingers. But I think he'd work a lot better with Buffalo's wingers, closer to home.

I've been pushing for a deal centered around McNabb for Bailey for some time now. Of course, the idea took a hit after the draft. But if the next few months ends up with Visnovsky somewhere else, I'd push with some urgency.

Cheers,

Dan-o

Great proposal.

it's another "I'm a irrational Sabres fan who wants to get rid of the team's most consistent defender for another dime-a-dozen winger" thread.

The only way the Sabres trade Sekera is if it's part of a package to land them a top tier talent.

Oh BTW, what happens after this season when 4 of the defencemen currently under contract all become UFA and we already sent Sekera packing?!

If a player like McNabb or Brennan are completely ready, the Sabres will make room for them during the season. If not The Sabres will have plenty of room for them after this season is over.

Think Tavares. No need to trade our best player and captain for anything short of an overpayment.

LOL... both offers in the OP and the counter in post #2 are horrible offers. The original is great for the NYI, bad for Buf., then the reverse.

Some of these proposals make me laugh.....
