Find me a single post where anybody comes close to saying or implying he's better than any of those players (You won't). You're just inventing fantasy now.

Voracek isn't far behind Doan right now, if at all.

Doan is overrated and always has been imo.

Id rather have nash over voracek but not when the contracts come into play.

And compared to Bobby Ryan, I think Voracek's skills on this team are unique to what Bobby Ryan's are. Ryan is a bit redundant though he would be our best goal scorer bar none.

I'm happy about it, he will play probably on the first or second line this year, at this price it's a good deal.

I don't think he is trolling anymore.

I honestly believe he believes that

Yeh, that is what I was alluding too, that defensively they were very similar, but Burns is offensively better...

Burns is like Coburns D with Mez's rush joining.

I really wanted the Flyers to make a play for him when SJ got him, I have a feeling they would have (as at the time there were rumours the flyers were in on him) if Pronger was in the state he is in now at that time. He cost a low first rounder (but they got a second back), a first round draft pick from the year before and Setoguchi (a decent price tbh, 2 low 1st draft pick effectivley, though Coyle looked damn good in the playoffs, Setoguchi was overated due to his linemates in his first season, and that low first was a crapshoot, though Zack Phillips, like Coyle, exploded in the playoffs!)

Good point and add to the fact that he's one of the greatest clutch playoff goal scorers in Flyers history .. just reinforces that Briere is going nowhere

No where in this thread does anyone compare him to any of those guys. Well, now they are, but only because you brought it up.You are salty because people are happy we resigned a good player to a good contract? wow Seriously, why does it upset you?

because they could be oversigning a dud to a contract like jvr/carter that's why.

I guess we should just never sign any young players then. God forbid they don't all turn into stars.

Ok, yep. No more signing young players.

Since we have no idea if they will turn out to be any good.

Only older vets who we know for certain will never lose a step.

He was smart to wait this long, I thought he deserved JVR type money more than JVR did. Can't wait to see the Ginger line!

he's fast and creative as hell. think about how many retarded bad trades could've been made this summer but were comin out with voracek under contract, couts still here and ready to rock and the schenn bros. we have a good team. losing any of them in a trade would have killed what were trying to do (i don't mean chubs schenn, talking bout brayden.) were a year older, hopefully bigger and ready to tear it up. weber schlebber. alright,.....we needed weber but this is good news either way.

I agree about Voracek and the rest of the kids. Voracek is a very good player and is going to get better. He needs first line ice time and he'll get it with Jagr gone (which was kind of the point of letting JJ go).

I'm glad Homer won't trade any of the main kids. We have a great team and they will only get better together.

With Luke Schenn and Grossmann for a full year, our D will have more heft. Carle's puck moving will be missed, but it means that Coburn, Timonen and Meszaros/Gervais/Gus/MAB will have to move the biscuit well. Voracek and BSchenn can play the points again too, so it's not like the PP will suffer much.

I still don't think Homer is done. When he says 'there are guys in UFA we like, and others who require a trade' you know he's still working.

Question remains - what do you give up for B.Ryan? Rumours have Read available and until the Voracek signing, the two may have been an available duo (+ pick) for Ryan. Does Briere become available? Simmonds? Whichever way you look at it, the Flyers would have a tough decision on their hands. Being a B.Ryan fan, I'd love to see him in Orange & Black but for what price?

Doan's offensive skill has always been over rated, but he's got those...intangibles

He has also never played with a C of Giroux's level. He can produce a good bit on his own, and plays hard and leads by example. I'm interesting in him as long as he doesnt actually cost 7.5 mil per year on a 35+ contract

Doan would be an awesome role model for our young stars. Think about what Jagr did on the fitness / dedication levels and how Doan would add to that with leadership, integrity and an amazing will to compete / to win. I'd take Doan for 2-3 years over Ryan. Addition without substraction.
