Anyone ever make the run down to Mankato for training camp? The last time I was there, I brought my oldest son (who was really young at the time). I believe it was 1999...The interesting thing about that day was we were witness to the one and only practice that Demetrius Underwood ever took part in as a Minnesota Viking. For those that aren't old enough to remember that crazy saga, do a google search....pretty wierd.

I lived in the apartment buildings behind the football fields, so I inadvertently "attended" camp. Whoever the defensive player with the long blonde hair was I almost crashed into him when he was biking down the road like an idiot I also helped some of the Vikings out when they came into Best Buy. Holy crap are they tall, strong, and intimidating.

Poor Demetrius, it's actually a pretty sad case of mental instability. It was a bonehead move by the Vikings to even draft him in the first place. He had great talent, but even his coaches at Michigan State didn't think he could overcome his mental problems.

Sounds like Hovan, and idiot is probably the best description you can give the guy.

I went for the first time ever last year as I had the week off and figured why not. Fairly "meh" time was had, although that was McKinnie's last day as a Viking.
When we were there, they just had the fat POS "running" the entire time. Though for me, it was more like a quicker pace, walk.

Yea, Lynx should win another championship this year.
I'll be honest, I don't rate women's basketball at all, it's usually complete ****, but I did watch them in the finals last year and it was the first time it's even been relatively entertaining, and I guess hearing a bunch of them on KFAN made me have more interest in general.
Mainly because they are from Minnesota, but at least it was better than seeing Lisa Leslie fail to dunk on the WNBA "opener"...better in terms of play, not in terms of hysterical laughter.

Thats how 99% of sports fans in Minnesota take on the Lynx. Nailed it. They have been on ESPN a few times this year, so I've been able to watch them while I napped. It was soothing.
I was at that game last night, and Parise was there with a bunch of other players. They put him on the kiss cam, and he got a smattering of applause but I got the feeling that about 50% of the people there had no idea who he was. I was a little disappointed in my fellow Twins fans. Okposo was also on kiss cam, but he hasn't signed with us yet so I didn't care
Edit: I should probably clarify that the guys were there with their girlfriends/wives.

Thats awesome. I went to the draft party at Winter Park when we picked McKinnie. Plenty of people were booing. The friend that invited me was Jim Thome's cousin. Lucky kid.

My cousin use to work with Okposso's mom at Target (she quit eventually) and he said that apparently a lot of NHLers have two cell phones. One for their wife and one for their girlfriend.
