The Madness Ends In Elmira, First Arena Has New Owner

http://www.pressconnects.com/article...or-First-Arena

This guy did have something to do with the naming rights to the arena way back when it came to be. I hope though that he has an interest in hockey despite what that article says about re-negotiating with the Afrs.

Excellent. Would love to see the Sabres affiliate with and/or own the Jackals.

The Sabres are signing more players than they ever have - they certainly need an ECHL affiliate close to Rochester and Buffalo, IMO

From what I understand this year anyway the Afr's will still own the team this year but they no longer will be paying the bills. I cant imagine with this guy owning a local business that this guy will have issues because if he does he knows his day job will likely take hits.

They'd have to break off their current affil with Gwinnett, and no word on if...or when...it'll happen. But, you're right...this would make logical sense.

Good, hope this really and truly is the end of that ordeal.

Most ECHL Affiliations are 1 year deals.

Unfortunatly no. The future of the team is up in the air. Afr won’t pay rent. So he either folds it or this guy or someone else buys it. Not sure this guy has the startup cash or not for his own ECHL team.

From what I have heard, the new owner and his partner have more money than the Afr family. Buying into the echl and getting a team would not be a problem for them. They are working on the Jackals with Afr.

Interesting. Haven't heard anything on Tommy Boy or Nate The Great. Afr on paper is appaently worth a lot, how much nobody knew. But Afr does stash his money in Egypt from the tax man, unfortunatly.

Something just occurred to me. Couildn't Afr sue for a wrongful sale? They had an agreement for this upcoming year called a Memorandum of Unsderstanding. From what I heard if all went well Afr was supposed to get the place back.
