Great! You are right though that he needs to play with Bogosian and not Buff. Im glad to hear he likes the Peg, I have never heard him say anything about the Jets or city either way, and am glad that he likes it here.
Maybe we can't attract the big free agents (so to speak) but it's a good sign when all the big guns resign here and want to be here for a long time. Speaks volumes to TNSE's professionalism and the passion from the fan base!
Do people actually watch the Jets play. The opposition's plan when Enstron and Buff are on the ice is to dump into Enstrom's corner. The guy is weak in the corners and the other team knows it. It is just something he has to deal with. I would say Buff when he isn't being stupid offensively is a much better defensive player on the virtue of his size then Enstrom is. That is when he isn't being stupid
If size was all that mattered to be a great defenseman, Boris Valabik would be a top D-man in the NHL instead of a lifetime AHLer.
So happy! Our best player locked up (hopefully) long term! Now we need to pair him with Bogosian and allow him to actually play his game instead of always having to cover up for Byfuglien's defensive gaffes.
I'm guessing the reason he was signed now was because Chevy took the Ray Shero approach (see if he re-signs in the summer and if not, trade him) as opposed to the David Poile approach (try and sign him during the season and risk losing him for nothing).
It's still two more months to October.. with Enstrom signed the only thing left to do is Kane's contract, AFIAK. Aside from the CBA I guess. Maybe extend Bogosian?
Good to see Enstrom signed. A lot of intangibles are coming together. Size increase + incremental player improvements + team stability + team comeraderie + desire to win = huge potential.
And I think this is exactly what a lot of people were looking for. Positive, forward movement. A lot of disagreement obviously as to the process/mechanism, but I am liking what I'm seeing in terms of getting positive things done. Still lots of work to do in the long term, but these are good steps.
Despite my critique of Toby in the past, these are the guys we want here. He wants to be here and that bodes well for the future of the organization.
Yes my friend I am looking forward to a bounce back year for Toby and Manu U back on top of the English football league where they belong
Seriously though Toby wants to be here and I know I am happy. I have said from the beginning that my preference was to keep him but if he didn't want to stay then we needed to trade him. This is one less major distraction as the year goes along. We didn't want to have the Suter trap hanging over our head. I have confidence that if we pair Toby with the right partner he we exceed expectations.
