Proposal: Colorado - Nashville

Hey I new user and an Avalanche fan, I just want to see both sides of the story and can't post on the main trade players page.

Nashville receives: Jan Hejda, 2nd Round Pick (2013), 3rd Round Pick (2013)

Colorado receives: Patric Hornqvist

I saw on your boards that some of you would be interested in a physical #2 defenseman, and Hejda fits that I feel. If anyone is offended by the offer I apologize in advance.

IMO, we'd be dealing from weakness. I'd love to get Hejda, but at the cost of a consistent 25 to 30-goal scorer hurts us a lot.

Though, I'm higher on Horny than most here. He's one of my favorite Preds.

I love Hornqvist. He's so underrated in my book. Is the value there though? I don't want to seem like a ***** and not offer enough

I have to agree with Whaler.

We do need a #2 d-man, but I'd much rather test the numbers on guys like Colaiacovo, Kubina, or Jurcina than give up a seasonal 25-30 goal scorer.

We lack those kind of scorers hence the reason we all wanted to go get a big goal scorer (ex. semin, ryan, etc). we lost out on those guys so now to lose Hornqvist would be a huge blow in my opinion.

I too agree that you need to keep him, I just saw in a separate thread that the subject of Martin (Pit) + for Hornqvist was discussed so I figured I'd test the waters. It's one of those things that without Suter, I don't know where Nashville will end up this year. Losing him means a lot considering how defensive oriented you are.

Value wise, it's probably in the neighborhood, but needs-wise, couldnt be worse for us. We deal a scoring forward, what we really don't have enough of, for a depth defenseman (we have plenty of 3rd pairing level guys) and draft picks (we want to win now).

I think if we can sign a few other pieces, we'll be just as good as we were last year. We're still a playoff team.

And as far as the Martin + trade, that's horse**** if we pull the trigger on that trade. Martin is not that good. We'd be better off with a guy from the UFA list, that's for sure.

Absolutely that would be a bad deal. Martin is terrible. Thanks for all of your input guys!

I love this deal value wise, but as others have said we need Horny more.

Nashville needs to add a d-man without giving up integral roster pieces. Love Hejda though. Underrated player

Hornqvist is one of our top goal scorers, and the intangibles... he's the one player who doesn't take a single night off, always battling night in and night out. I don't know about in the locker room, but based on his on-ice demeanor he'd be a good captain if only he could round out his two-way game and earn more ice time.

Even with all that, I'd still include him in the right trade. But this is far from that.

Hejda has always been underrated. He is what Ryan Parent was supposed to be.

That being said I wouldn't do this trade. Fills one hole and creates another.

I'm proud that my first proposal on HF boards has at least has the value based ~1/2 the people on your board. That's much better than most of the proposals I have seen.

I completely understand that you're dealing from a position of weakness, but you never know. It doesn't hurt to ask as long as you're respectable about it.

Hejda isn't third pairing. He was a top-pairing capable shutdown guy when he broke out up here, and he's still at least able to handle the second pairing.

That said, I don't think this trade makes much sense for Nashville either.

When Suter was out ... the team held the road ! + Josi, Ellis and Blum are growing.

I believe that they let Suter go. (it couldn't be said ... or done actively ... but i believe that this is what happened.)
NSH mgmt was very skilled commercially as well as in their communication with the fans !

All this to say that Hejda could fit ... but not at 3.5 mio/year.
They will spend money on forwards.

That's what his teammates call him too. It's funny when you're at a game and cheering and you yell, go get 'em Horny, kind of sounds funny.

Noooo no no we did not let Suter walk. We had a 93 million dollar offer for him then Minnesota upped theres to 98 and Suter took theirs without hearing our counter (if we were even going to counter which i bet we would have)

Hornqvist could become expendable, but he isn't yet. If he is packaged in a trade it will be well into the season, and only if he is passed up by younger guys.

Both teams would say no to this, Avs can't move their only LH d-man who's capable of playing top 4 minutes, not to mention that he and O'Byrne are Avs go to shutdown d-men.

I completely understand this. I also know it would be dumb for Nashville to trade Hornqvist at this time. But you gotta give to get. If I said I'd give Gaunce, a 1st and a 2nd for him people would be mad for trading Gaunce without giving him an opportunity. I feel this could be a deadline deal if Colorado learns more about Elliott, Barrie, and Gaunce throughout the season and feel they're capable, and if Nashville somehow finds that they're out of the playoff race (probably not going to happen at all). Knowing all of this, I'm proud that the Nashville fans here at least somewhat feel that their player is being valued correctly, which is a real problem on this site.

That deal is good value, but I think we should stick with Horny
