That's absolutely insane. I mean, I'd love to have him but $7.5/yr is nuts.

I think Doan is a great character player and leader, who you can expect to chip in 50-60 points, but $7m a season on a multi year deal?

Doan can go suck a bag of dicks

Personally I'd offer him, at the most, $13-14m over 3 years

I'd love to get Moore or arnott for the 4th line C. Before I didn't expect arnott to sign to play in a 4th line C spot, but seeing as he's not signed yet, he might be willing.

How awesome would this be?

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Simmonds-Schenn-Briere
Fedetenko-Couturier-Read
Talbot-Arnott/Moore-Sestito/Rinaldo

I'd like to give Holmstrom the opportunity to win the 4C job.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Simmonds-Schenn-Briere
Feds/Wellwood-Couturier-Read
Talbot-Holmstrom-Feds/Wellwood
Sestito

If he doesn't win the job and we don't sign anyone else, I'd like:

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Simmonds-Schenn-Briere
Feds/Wellwood-Couturier-Read
Feds/Wellwood-Talbot-Sestito/Rinaldo
Sestito/Rinaldo

Im sure Doan's arguement is that he was on a defensive minded team with not much scoring around him.

Nontheless, 7.5 for 4 seasons is a joke on a 35+ player with only that many pts last season.

I would as well. He's inexpensive and hopefully he can do the job. Character player as well.

I would be willing to do 18 for 4, which would count me out as a GM. He could hit the wall any moment and I am very aware of big raises coming in two years. Sure, room could be made and a lot can change in two years, but it is important to be contract conscious, even for a cap ceiling team.

4.5 over 4 with a NMC isn't that constricting.

What Doan -- or his agent, more likely -- is asking for is, at best, posturing to get the best possible deal. The highest I would go with Doan, were I Paul Holmgren, would be 3 years $17.5 million. Make the offer and sit back and wait. It's not like they will be missing out on other top FAs at this point.

Heads up, if you're going to participate in their thread, you should do so civilly. Comments meant to annoy likely aren't going to be looked upon kindly by their mods, just as they wouldn't be if Pens fans came in here.

I'm there. It isn't out of hand yet.

Some of the more silly claims:

Flyers blame Crosby for everything.
Giroux said it was dirty and that makes all Flyers hypocrites because of the Bullies era (I don't even know if Giroux called it dirty--- he grinned like a lunatic and answered the question).
Bad attempts at turning G's name into something female.

No biggie. Every fan base has its reactionaries that post silly things.

You and Amateur should be fine. You're both posting civil, logical discussion...which is getting rejected out of hand by some of the locals, it seems, but whatever. That's to be expected, we have users who do the same thing.

What I'm warning about is, don't say something like "you mad about all the ******** making you mad and ********. ********." Then an infraction for trolling is likely going to be dished out.

Lolz at their belief that Philly fans/players are obsessed with them.

I've only seen two HF fan bases create a celebration thread when a rival was eliminated: the Oilers when the Bruins beat the Canucks and the Pens when the Devils beat the Flyers. Who's obsessed?

Re: Giroux's comments... the reporter mentions Giroux had a little smirk when he talked about Crosby; it seems to me Claude was intentionally stirring the pot. Kind of a dick move, but where's the whining?

The photo they are posting actually looks like a distant relative of Tyler Kennedy.

Edit: I don't believe for a second Amateur Hour doesn't come here to get hit on.

A cycle of ********, as it were.

Anyway, I hope the forwards for the season look like this:

Hartnell - Roo - Vorassic Park
Simmonds - Schenn - Briere
Fedotenko - Couturier - Read
Wellwood - Holmstrom - Talbot

All this necessitates is training Voracek on how to take draws, then we have two guys on every line which are at least adequate at faceoffs. Sestito is hopefully the 13th guy (I hate saying that).

We do have a solid lineup. I like it alot, and we are now developing forwards up and down our lines. If the defense doesn't get too hurt, we have enough guys who can play different games.

I can dig it.

I am a Bryz supporter, BUT that can easily be said for him too during that series.

I think the refs will be watching the faceoffs between Crosby and Giroux more closely now. Maybe that was the point ?
