That's a clever name. I have always wondered, what does MVW mean?

And I don't know the answers for your canadian politics question.
My username is basically my initials, think JVR (but I've had that name ever since I joined these boards).

To the MODS, if they agree I think it would be a good idea to sticky those threads.

And if our government can't relate to today's demographic, why do they expect people to vote?

Because they don't want people to vote. The less people under the age of 35 voting, the better for the Conservatives it is. I remember Ezra Levant actually told young people to NOT go out and vote, because of fear that the Liberals, NDP and Green might actually get somewhere.

We should have threads stickied for "Fantasy Questions" and "Trade Rumors" as well as "Injury Reports" during the regular season. We could also sticky a Flames Twitter thread.

Where did the Lunatik and Medium Rare go to?

Also when it is election time in Canada, why do our Prime Minister debates seem like an SNL skit? Why do the candidates not know what social media is? And why can't Canadian citizens vote online? Voting would be increased ten fold and tallying would be done electronically.

Lastly, I was debating to changing my username to "Lucky Number Sven", what do you guys think?
Firstly, If you're going to change your name, leave your avatar up long enough to allow us to adjust.

Secondly, I once heard this wonderful peice on CBC radio about electronic voting and the criticism was primarly concerns about cheating. You see physical ballots can be re-counted if ever an election result is in question.

Haha I already changed my Avatar to that Natasha hottie on TSN but it hasn't changed on here for some reason. But will do!

And I guess that makes sense, but you would think someone Jim Mr. Blackberry would create a 3rd party site/organization that is secure enough to handle something like that, similar to how they tally the votes on shows like Idol. I just think our government are like Dinosaurs and have no idea how to relate to modern Canadians.

Our government is like Dinosaurs for sure, but that's a typical politician. Nobody wants a skateboarding tweeter up there telling us that their platform "iz off the chizzle" because nobody could believe that this person knows a thing about Canadians' needs. We want them sqeaky clean, educated, and flat-out boring because it makes us feel comfortable that we won't expect any radical ideas.

Little do we know that it's usually the power hungry people that enter politics to begin with, and regardless of how comfortable we feel, we'll get screwed over by a crook

I don't mind Harper at all, but I look at someone like Obama quoting Jay-Z and think that's really refreshing. If politicians want young people to vote, then reach out to them on the venues you can reach them at. Our thinking is so conservative and backwards that its ridiculous. I think we will see change in this regards in the next 10yrs.

And yeah, I also agree that Thomas is a tool.

Everytime something new happens, people look at it with fear and criticism, especially the particularly nostalgic. But when we look back at all the great things we've done as a civilization, such as the aboloshment of slavery for example, we treasure it and speak pride about it, not knowing that it was one time criticized and saw as radicalism too.

Am I the only one who loved the tribute to music at the opening ceremonies at the Olympics?

But Bin Laden ain't one.

Re Harper: I can't stand that *****, or Baird, or 90% of his cabinet. I feel like the last good Conservative the CPC had was Jim Prentice, and that's because he's a centrist running (or rather used to) in Calgary. Bet if he ran in Ontario he would be under the Liberal banner. That's the only man that can get me to vote against my ideology, and vote for the Tories. Harper, Baird, Kenney, Flaherty, they can all **** off. Not only are they all part of the same gentleman's club, but they're all neo-conservatives who think that Mulroney, Reagan and Thatcher were the best things since sliced bread.

Edit: MacKay isn't as bad, but he's a gutless tool, as well.

Yeah Hughes is great. Winnipeg really knows how to build olympians.

Another subject I find interesting is the finding of the Higgs Boson. I've been watching Youtube videos on the standard model ever since (when I find time), trying to find the most comprehensive videos.

It's been exciting for science lately. Apparently Neutrinos were found travelling faster than the speed of light and apparently bacteria were found to replace phosphorous with arsenic in it's DNA. Both are actively being refuted however.

Really close basketball game. (Great Britian vs Canada) Canada winning 55-53, going in to the 4th quarter.

I am pretty sure I read about the Neutrinos being tested in the same way again, and they were unable to duplicate the results.

The Higgs is indeed very exciting. Opens up a lot of possibilities for new testing as well.

Somehow Canada tied the soccer game with 5 minutes left. They move on to the quarterfinals!

Yeah, they were down 2-0, but Canada scored with 2 minutes left in the first half then scored again with 4 minutes left in the game. It was awesome.

So if we win our Quaterfinal match up, does that mean we compete for a medal?

Yes, I believe. 8 teams make the quarterfinals, so yeah. It would be pretty amazing to see us get a medal for soccer.

The announcers said that most of the canadian soccer players don't play pro, most are college kids.

Wow, that would really be a big deal if we won a medal, even getting to a medal game then.

Guess I have a reason to watch now.
