I really like Doan, but who on earth would give out a 4+ year 7.5 per 35+ contract?????

A team desperate to get an original Jet to finish his career in Winnipeg. They're not a contender, so as 50+% overpayment is their only option.

I don't think it's Winnipeg making that offer... I would think Philly would make that kind of offer though. Mind you, they've been having a tought go of it this off-season.

If Winnipeg wanted an original Jet to finish his career in Winnipeg, they would throw $7.5 at Selanne first. Or they would go the cheap route and get Khabby from Edmonton for a draft pick. So no, I seriously doubt Winnipeg has made that offer.

The Jets' stadium is one of two in which I can remember Doan being booed (the other being in Montreal). I'm not sure he's in a rush to move there.

According to Doan's agent two weeks ago, the Jets haven't made Doan an offer.

I guess there's a chance the team might be interested, but I highly doubt we made him the 7.5 x 4 offer. That seems more like a Buffalo or Philadelphia move.

To be fair, Jets fans boo everyone. Booing Doan in particular had more to do with what he represents (the old Jets) than it did with who he is. During a TV timeout, there was a video showing Doan in a Jets uniform and the crowd stood up and gave him a standing ovation.

Well, we boo everyone except Selanne!

But that game against Pheonix in December was a good one... not a ton of scoring but the third period kept everyone on the edge of their seats!

WINNIPEG - Shane Doan got booed every time he touched the puck on Thursday night, but the former Winnipeg Jet will always remember the standing ovation he got from the crowd.

The Coyotes captain was shown on the scoreboard video screen during a TV timeout in the first period, and most of those in attendance cheered. Doan couldn’t help but smile, and then the crowd got to its feet and roared some more for the 35-year-old.

“It was pretty special,” Doan said afterwards in the deserted Coyotes dressing room. “It’s not too often you get to experience something like that, and I’m very grateful and thankful for that. It meant a lot to me.”

My guess is Bross is yet another greedy agent trying to maximize his earnings by spreading this silly $ 30M rumor. I wouldn't be surprised if Doan's actually in no big rush to make a decision but gets pressure from Bross to meet with all those other teams ASAP.

The right thing to do would have been to be fairly discreet about the whole thing. Doan's in a bit of a pickle, he wants to make everyone happy - not piss off local fans, and respect other teams' efforts to wow him. There's no reason to go barking around about '4 or 5 official offers', '$30M over 4 years', '16 teams being interested' and other stupid fake deadlines. It all sounds completely manufactured.

I believe what has happen is that the best deal Doan has been offered was a little less in both term and money and this is what the auctioneer has listed as the next bid!

So. Maybe a Doan announcement this week end? I think I need a new team to follow.

At this point, it seems clear that if you put a microphone in front of Terry Bross, he will deposit therein whatever information he's been given. If there were any news to report, it makes no sense to expect Jamison to let Shane Doan's agent be the one to do it. Either Doan is keeping something from him, which is doubtful, or it may simply be the case that Jamison is staying mum because he knows whatever he tells Doan will wind up in the media, courtesy of his agent.

This makes a lot of sense. Don't want to compromise the sale of the team with bozo agent.

Yep. I expect Doan will be gone by the end of Monday. So sad. Let those naysayers tell is we're not "real" fans. I dont think half of them would be able to put up with the ******** we've had to over the last three years. This is the breaking point.

I still get the feeling that all Bross was hired to do was get negotiations for Doan on all the other teams, handle the media, and nothing to do with Phoenix - since that offer is still on the table. GJ probably communicates with Doan directly and since he is not the owner, no reason to contact his agent. Since Doan does not communicate to the press and let's his agent talk, we all are at a loss, but we shouldn't think too much into it.

One poster on the main board said that Doan was at a golfing charity event today in Kamloops. It was probably the only thing that had merit in the whole thread! There is no reason for Doan signs until he is 100% sure of this ownership saga. He hasn't even started meeting with GMs of the most likely destinations...

Let's not confuse a sense of loyalty with a case of stupidity.
