P.S Weber is an idiot. Next year might have been his only taste of UFA and now he's locked in for the rest of his career. He didn't even get a chance to get wined and dined and choose his destination.
Weber was smart to take advantage of the long lifetime contract as it is now as opposed to waiting for the new CBA that would have likely limited those contracts to 5 or 7 years. That's why he took it. He wasn't going to get this market next year because it wasn't going to offer the term...most likely.

Listening to his agent, I find it hard to believe that Weber wanted to stay in Nashville. By going to Philly he would have had that incredible contract and he would be on to a team that wasn't shy about spending money on their roster.

DarrenDreger 7:22am via Twitter for BlackBerry® Ok...I'll weigh in from Sask on speculation Leafs are closing in on [G Jonathan] Bernier deal. Burke says they're not even talking with LA. As you were.

... Or he could have ended up somewhere before his NMC kicked in like Richards, Carter and JVR did.

I'm sure Nashville not matching would have been ideal for him, but he had to choose between the guaranteed money or ideal destination and he choose the former.

Bruins announce that Horton has been cleared for contact (after long break due to concussion).

Remember that game in LA when the clock "stopped" long enough for the Kings to score (at the end of the game)? Investigation shows it was human error.

Those 2 points + COL/DAL not going <.400 down the stretch keeps LA out of the playoffs, and championship-less.

How does it not matter?

Because Colorado and Dallas did go <.400 down the stretch. As the standings shook out, those two points wouldn't have made a difference.

I am pretty excited about this. Would love to have a local team. Probably will be a good rivalry with the Canucks too.

Maybe the kings lose and go on a losing streak. Maybe guys get called up/sent down/traded as a result. Done is done but like I thought at the time if the league wants the parity to be a selling point it can't claim every point matters and then turn around and sweep these kinds of human errors under the rug saying it was just two points, or the ever popular it all evens out in the end.

Semin signing w/Canes makes sense. CAR very familiar with him from division rivalry. High skill guy. One year deal is very low risk. Smart

If this happens, I'm moving to Seattle to come work for that franchise. My girlfriend and I love Seattle and have talked about raising a family there. We always bring up how tough it would be to leave San Jose with our favorite team here, but moving within the division would allow us to see them at least 3 times in town and 2 times in Vancouver.

Western WA is awesome. My wife is originally from here and makes fun of me because:

- I don't drink coffee
- I don't eat seafood
- I hate the rain

If you like 2 of the three above, you are in for a treat! On the whole its a really nice place to raise a family.

Precisely why we love Seattle. We both met by working at Starbucks together. I'm a bonafide coffee geek so Seattle is Mecca for me. We both enjoy cooking and seafood. And we both LOVE rainy weather.

Our visits to Seattle have always been fantastic. Hardly ever come across a rude person. Everyone seems so laid back. Plus that Red Mill Burgers place is amazing.

We all know that Semin signed with the Hurricanes because he jumped after the opportunity to do bongo sessions with the Staals

NHL Home Ice's Power Play (in the next 45 minutes) will have Boomer giving DW a "grade" for his season/offseason moves.

The two hosts gave "C" and "C-"

Expect mid-week a blog describing the reasons.

In a nutshell -- too few prospects left in organization, team is growing really old.
