Goal horns?

When did they first become used? I was watching some old Bruins/Canadiens games today and noticed they were non existent so who came up with the idea?

I believe Chicago was the first to have a goal horn.

I'm pretty sure Montreal was the last holdout (though it may have been Toronto)

... Im not sure, but it mightve been the Islanders back in 73.
Replacing the horn with a siren ala the Shawshank Redemption.

I hear the first goal horn, like in the modern sense, was Chicago in 1983, but as some said, the Islanders seemed to have a siren before that. When I first started watching hockey in 1997, a lot of teams still had sirens, and some teams didn't have any kind of goal horn. Phoenix were the last team to get one, they didn't have one at America West Arena, and the Leafs didn't have one until the ACC.

I was watching some YT clips of old Wings games; it's hilarious to heat their original goal horn. Sounds like something you hear immediately after "Ladies, does he have at least one number right?"

Oh yeah, that one is awful. It seems they had it as early as 1987 and as late as 1994. It seems they've had the one they do now since 1995. I'd hate to be at the Joe when that old one went off.

I also thought it was the Islanders.
