I don't think we are as run and gun as the cup team. Our two centers (S11 and S12) are more grind 'em down, bruise and crush style of play than playing chase the puck up and down the ice at full tilt for 45 seconds.
Eric and Jordan can wear down the opposition, leaving room for Semin/Skinner/ Jokinen/Tlusty to operate.
Living in Canada, and being force fed this BS on literally, a daily basis, is why I will take extra special pleasure and pride in wearing my brand new Carolina Semin jersey with both pride, as a crazy Carolina fan, and disdain, towards all 7 Canadian teams. A Canadian team hasn't won s*** since 1993, and in my personal opinion, I hope that drought is still in it's infancy.
How can you live here and hate all the Canadian teams so much? And I always get a laugh out of people pointing out how no Canadian hockey teams have won the cup forever. Where do you think most hockey players come from? Where do you think most of the players on the cup winning canes team came from?
Lol, at Stewart on 1st line.
He is a fringe 4th liner.
He's a good third-liner, just not on this team. For whatever reason, doesn't fit in. I bet there are teams who would like to have him considering he is cheap and has some potential.

I have no issue with Canadians, I am one, I hate the teams, and the media and some of the fans who claim that if you aren't born in Prince Albert, Fort Saskatchewan or Kingston, you aren't a good hockey player.
ie, look what happened when Don Cherry made the Ice Dogs all Canadian. How did that work out?

There might be a few, but every team in the league could have had Stewart for free last year when he went on Waivers and nobody took him.
There's a reason Winnipeg didn't give him Stewart a qualifying offer and nobody wanted him when we waived him last year: he sucks at hockey.
Despite facing the weakest quality of competition of any of our regular forwards *and* starting a greater percentage of shifts in the offensive zone than any of our regular forwards, Anthony Stewart had the second worst Corsi rating of any of our regular forwards.
He's an awful even strength player and completely useless on special teams. People want to cite his point totals compared to his ice time, but he still got wildly outshot and was a minus player even while playing against 4th liners and 3rd pairing defensemen. So, yeah, Stewart scores a fair amount compared to his ice time, but he gives up more and gets significantly outchanced...while playing against the other team's worst players.
I don't understand how anyone can watch Anthony Stewart and think he belongs in the NHL, let alone is a good third liner. Every time he gets the puck it's only seconds before the other team has it. I've seen enough ****ing blind one-touch passes in the defensive zone, thank you very much.
The key argument towards keeping this utterly atrocious hockey player on our team is his "size" and other forwards lack of "size". Yet, what does A Stew do with this size? Nothing...nothing at all.
Has any Cap fan linked you guys the Oddities
of Alex Semin thread yet?
Do you mean oddities of playing style, odd behaviors on the bench/locker room, or do you mean he has a collection of ears from his victims somewhere in his home?

Define "oddities".
Oddities is a show on Science.... actually 2 of them.
The original one is based in NYC, the spin off is in San Fran.
I called dibs on Wednesday Morning from the San Fran show.

If there's one that I have learned as a Canes fan, it's that people's fanhood isn't attached to their place of residence.
Stewart's problems begin and end with his terrible skating ability. He's got great speed, but only uses it in short bursts once or twice a game. The rest of the time he's gliding on one skate and paddling himself along with the other skate, like a little kid learning to skate. I've NEVER in my life watched an NHLer with an uglier skating style. He makes Luc Robitaille look like a figure skater.
His inability or refusal to use his "size" is another issue entirely. Part of that problem is that he isn't nearly as big as he's listed.

When people on a daily basis point to you when you're wearing a 'Canes jersey and tell you your team sucks soley because it's from a non traditional market it wears on you, same thing can be said when the media does it (and they do)
For ie, I remember when the Oiler's won the draft some guy on Sportsnet (name eludes me atm) said that "Columbus fans are devestated. All 12 of them."
Stuff like that is unmeritted and poor journalism. It's one thing to mock a rival or something, hell, even from Calgary, Alberta, I still poke fun at NC State fans (I went to ECU)
Q: Do you know what the average NC State student gets on their SAT's?
A: Drool.
Stuff like that is good natured fun and healthy, but when people needlessly hate on something for no reason other than it's not traditional, then it really irks me, and I'll die a happy man, if a Canadian team never wins a cup in my lifetime.

Chara,Krejci,Thomas. Quick,Kopitar. Zetterberg,Datsyuk,Lidstrom. Kovalchuk,Parise. Sedin,Sedin. Only cup final team in recent years that didnt have prominent non Canadian as their best player was Flyers,Hawks and if you want to include Pens, but even then its Malkin for Conn smythe. So you cant win with Canadians ?
