I'd do Stajan for a conditional 4th rounder and Taylor Pratt
For Backlund It'd take Hagelin and a Conditional 2nd.
Add some picks from us if you want.
We aren't adding to Hagelin to get a lesser player.
And who is "we", OP? I'm certainly fine with a guy who was our 3rd line center last year...you know, when we finished 1st? Torts is obviously fine with him there, too.

The Rangers just signed Pyatt.
When was the last time a player signed as a UFA was traded in the same offseason?
Boyle does a lot for the Rangers. He's very good defensively for a forward. We just came 2 wins away from the SCF with him as 3c and that was without Nash. I don't see any of these besides ROR obviously as a clear upgrade
Stajan is soft and isn't good defensively. He has no place on the Rangers with Torts.
i do agree stajan would be a bad choice but he is solid defensively and can win faceoffs, his cap hit is too much but i think the rangers should solve the issue (if there is one) internally
Boyle's role is a shut down type checking center, Torts will not use him in a goalscoring role as he typically leans on 3 lines instead of 4. Boyle eats a bunch of really tough minutes and is a leader on the PK, plus like was said he is good for about 15 goals. There is no need to acquire a 3rd line center.
The paranoid, rabidly anti-Boyle bloc of our fanbase really needs to pipe down. He's a perfectly good third line center and will likely be our fourth line center in a season or a half when Miller is ready.
Not much because I like our team and we can do a lot worse than Boyle as 3c playing with pyatt and Callahan
yeah our leader, our best PP scorer (2 years in a row now) who just scored 29 goals are gonna play on the 3rd line with players with hands of stones, yeah right...
When Gaborik comes back the lines will be something like:
so ranger fans dont want boyle at center (from other post ive seen) and jt miller is probably not ready yet
Miller might be ready it's hard to tell. I think Rangers will let him start in the AHL, ease him into it and then call him up midseason.
I'm fine with Boyle as our 3rd C, I'd want someone more offensievly gifted though, but I rather roll with Boyle as a 3C than trade one of Staal, Girardi, McDonagh for an upgrade.
