There will also be free skating on the new "canal" they're building at the site of the old Aud. In summer, it's a water feature. In winter, they will drain it down to a couple inches and skate on it.

The Buffalo News just got around to reporting this today. Then, of course, the entire story is about Paladino's bid, only a passing reference to the Sabres.

Pathetic.
To be fair the News is hardly a fan of Paladino who attacks them constantly.

Thought the same. Plus absolutely no mention of 'Hockey Heaven' when talking the Sabres proposal.

It's not an issue with the BN. The mayor's office did an about-face (go figure) and released the proposals so they could get public input ahead of the vote.
Is it just me or is the Paladino slideshow woefully amateurish and difficult to look at?
"I think this is great and its right next door" or "We need white and must reference nautical aspects somehow". Really?
And how are they going to have hotel, office and apartments sharing various different levels of the same building? It just sounds like a poorly thought out plan. I'd like to hear the presentation before completely dismissing it, but I have more questions then answers based on that link.
The Sabres proposal is simple and just makes sense. I can't wait to go to the Buffalo Grill after skating.
It wasn't noted in the article but the Pegula plan can go to the piece of state property between the arena and the water. There is room for both. Voting down Pegula means he would do it somewhere else but he would still do it. Voting down Paladino Would mean his plan wouldn't happen at all. Support Paladino on this one.

I just looked at an overhead map and there's no where near enough room between the arena and the water. And then there's the metro rail tracks that go to the service station. Not really sure what piece you're talking about. I'll take Pegula's plan for Webster, FTW. It brings more people down to Canal side right where you want them. Carl can spend his money fixing all the properties he's been ignoring first.

Uh, what?
Both proposals were for the Webster block only. Neither contains an alternate location proposal.

Lol are you kidding the snooze is such a leftist paper its disgusting. They trash Paladino and the right every chance they get.

I'm talking about the few posters that think the BuffNews was some how slighting the Sabres/Pegula's plan in favor of Paladino's plan due to some sort of animosty between them. The News has had far more run ins with Paladino so I highly doubt thats the case.

I know thats what the proposals are but my point is, Pegula's plan doesn't have to go on the Webster block. It can go elsewhere an yes, there's more than enough room for it on that piece next to the water when you trim down his project to just the rinks portion. It would be ideal to do both plans. In order to get both, you gotta support Paladino's here.

Who said we want/need both? Who said Pegula would want to just build the practice rinks and nothing else?
