After all, there are people in this thread complaining about depth, right?

Dominic Moore is a perfect remedy for that. Adds good speed too, which is the new team dynamic as it seems and rightfully so.

I am baffled as to why Brian Boyle is suddenly not good enough to be a #3C. That seems to be his ideal job.

I am a BB fan. But for a team looking to win a cup, him as a 3rd line center scares me. He is slow, has poor hands and even worse play making ability. He's a 4th liner and that's where he belongs. Need a better C on this roster who can create some offense.

Since the Lockout there have been very few centers face the other teams best in a less than 40% zone start and be even or better.

It is the most difficult role in the game.
A role on average usually ends up -15 and only 18 EV points for the season.

Guys like:
M. Richards, Kesler, Brodziak, Horcoff, Pauhlsson, Fiddler,
This year Wyman, boyle.

Boyle just had one of the best shutdown seasons in post lockout era.
A guy who is paid 1.7M to play a role that averages a 4.5M cap hit.
Yes not playing him at center is a brilliant Idea.

LOL, sure, he might drop them, but he's laughably bad at fighting for a guy his size.

It's hilarious actually. I mean the dude is like 6'7"/240 lbs and he fights like a woman.

I just don't think locker room will want him there. Perhaps there is a reason why he's been dumped by so many teams?? And those 3 players you listed, all played some miserable hockey with the Rangers.

boyle the rest of the year isnt, for a 'contender'. I dont think those paranoid rabidly anti-Boyle bloc members are that off base.
He had a 20 goal season the year before. Its not as if a decent amount of offensive production is out of the question. And Zil is right, they are far off base.

Couple things here:

1 - We don't need a third line center. That's Boyler. We currently have an opening (until Gaborik returns) at 3rd line RW.

2 - Why trade for a third line RW? We have plenty of third line caliber talent in the system that can fill the role until Gabby comes back.

Thanks for your input. I can't imagine why we don't want to trade one of the two top 10 Norris vote getters we own for a third line center. Sounds like a no brainer on our part.

Belanger off of Edmonton but based on the descriptions of Boyle it sounds like he is pretty much what belanger is

There needs to be a "facepalm through head" for this kind of stupidity.

I'm comparing the stupidity of the deal you offered to that of the one I offered. It's equally moronic.

It just doesn't seem logical to trade your top pairing defenseman for a 3rd line center.

I've been thinking a more proven third line C would be a good pick up as well, but other fans need to realize we're only looking to move picks/prospects in a deal like this. It's not that we're not looking to pay for what we get, but we're not looking for a ROR or Sutter type of third line C, but something like Lombardi or Dominic Moore that can be picked up inexpensively and give us a little better depth. This is definitely "win-now" time, so no roster pieces should be moved. It's not because we think you should give us something without us having to pay for it, it's because it doesn't make any sense otherwise. We're looking for modest bottom six C that can take some draws and simply bolster our depth a little. More than likely, we'll look for a rental at the deadline.

I honestly don't think we need it.

With Gaborik back we're looking at

Nash-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Stepan-Callahan
Hagelin-Boyle-Pyatt
Asham-Halpern-Rupp

Maybe? I guess? I don't think we need to add here - not yet anyway.

So let me get this straight, Rangers fans are wanting a THIRD line center. The Avs fan offered ROR for Girardi or Mcd. Yes he is better than a 3c but that's what we are asking for. A 3c does NOT bring back a Girardi or Mcdonagh so of course its a hell no

Dominic Moore would be capable tough buy w/speed, but we may have better options.

Last I looked a couple of days ago, Richard Park was still UFA.
If I'm not mistaken, this is former Islander, pain in the side every so often, and plus you are taking someone away from Pens.

At no asset cost, just $$ if reasonable for short term 1-2 max deal.

I THINK he has played C. Am I wrong about that?
