I'd love to see him dump the puck and turtle the hit ALA Marchand. Now that would be cheeky.

Gagner would be a good 2c for the Oilers if we had a 1c like Eric Staal or Joe Thornton, aka a big guy.

But since RNH is our 1c, we need a 2c like Kelser or someone with size

Gagner isn't the problem, he's not a bad player, he just doesn't fit

Again with that video. I don't understand what that's supposed to imply. That Gagner's soft? Okay.

Standing up for his teammates. Next.

Fights are great and good for him for standing up for his teammates but we're talking about game play.

Find a clip of him playing physically on the boards or winning a puck battle, that would hold a little more ground In the discussion.

We need a 2c that can create room for his wingers by being hard to push off the puck. That attribute is often associated with size but the best in the world at it right now is under six feet tall (Sidney Crosby).

That said, from everything I've seen to this point in his career Sam Gagner is not that guy.

Good post, in the right circumstances he could fill a need on a good team, this isn't that situation unless he suddenly becomes significantly stronger this off season.

Im sure you have read the previous page.

It all started with me commenting that Gagner's deal was looking pretty good based on the Semin contract. He did only get 54 points in his last two seasons.

Im not going to defend the Semin contract, but I find it curious that anyone would compare Gagner to a player who has scored 40 goals and 80 points in the league. That's more than a little ridiculous.

All I was trying to get across is that Gagner's contract was pretty good value when compared to Semins.

They're not comparable players.

Ya if you exclude Semin's one 80+ and two 70+ point seasons and his two 54 point seasons, and his 40 goal season and the two other season where he was on pace for 40 goals or that he has scored at least 20 goals every year, compared to Gagner never besting 18... then you could consider it the same production.

You are comparing an elite skilled sniper who signed as a UFA to a guy who has never had even an above average season that signed as a RFA.

You made a stupid statement. Own it.

Semin has scored more than 50 points in every season. By your logic you could say that Jagr is only a 50 point player as well and that Gagner is an equal player to him.
