What an offseason!

I just can't decide whose jersey to buy.
You know all teams have to sign guys for the minors right?

Hell, lets talk about Bitz while we are at it. Bitz was able to play center and wing, top 6 or bottom 6 at the Ahl level, it didn't matter. He also wasnt terrible like Desbiens was at the NHL level.
Yes, agreed. I preferred Bitz, but I guess Bitz was looking for something different?

I thought Bitz looked decent coming off injury in limited action...

Hopefully Desbiens debriefs Gillis STAT on the secrets he stole from Calgary.

Good signing for the farm. He probably enjoyed playing for Scott Arniel. Former Wolves player too.

Likely won't see any NHL time but I don't believe that is what this signing is for.
Yeah, I have no real issue with this...he's a solid player at the NHL level who's enjoyed a couple of cups of coffee in the bigs. That kind of experience and grit is good to have around our prospects on the farm. Nothing wrong with this at all.

EDIT: On the other hand...

Of all the Canuck related news this summer, I am somewhat amused that this is the one that ends up as the headline on TSN.

EDIT 2: And I meant "solid player at the AHL level". Wow.

I still believe the Desbiens can take his game to the next level. If not, great player for the AHL to have.

Gillis takes that information, files it all in one binder labeled "How not to manage a hockey team"

Unless his skating has improved, he will never be a full time NHL player.

TSN probably thinks it means we're out of the sweepstakes with Doan.

Can't tell if serious. It's a freaking AHL signing..... He does them every year.

Gillis obviously wanted to get Desbiens locked up in case the Doan option didn't work out.

Hey man, nobody has ever made obvious and unfunny posts about minor signings here before! Let everyone bask in the freshness of it all!

Edit: Although, perhaps in this case some of the comments are a bit more warranted, even if they are a little tired.

I agree with other posters, I'm not sure what he brings, even to the Wolves, that we couldn't have gotten on an AHL deal. I would rather have Bitz or Duco than this plug.

Wonder why Mikey did this.

I'm sure he wants more talented youngsters like Weiss and Sweatt to have more opportunity. Really don't know why we signed this guy, unless Chicago is expecting to lose a forward.

Man his stats overwhelm us. He's still riding his scoreless streak at the tender age of 27.

23 NHL games so far, 0 goals, 0 assists and 6 whole shots!

on the other hand, -3 in 23 NHL games for a league-minimum contract isn't bad value.
